I had went to North Carolina to do some ruby and garnet panning at different mines in the area. Found a nice facet rough piece of garnet I left with them to be cut. Before anyone says anything the stone was transparent before it was cut and a decent size, so i'm pretty sure it wasn't a switch the stone kind of thing. I also am aware that the stone is on the dark side and does have inclusions in it (which in this stone I think gives it character). I know it is not up to your guys standards of color and clarity for garnets, but It is a very nice size being 10x14mm and I am planning on putting in a cheaper sterling silver ring setting to wear it for sentimental value, and wanted to share it with you guys .
It does have a very nice purplish red color when in direct sunlight and light. Unfortunately my room is darker and it is a cloudy rainy day today when taking the pictures. and it hard to capture the color I see in person.
