Got our first wedding present today!

and it was a setting of our china. I am so excited! (Monarch! I am catching up!) Also I didn''t know, but am relieved that wedgewood has a 5 year availability guatantee (not sure of the details of that though) and they are dishwasher safe (but I still probably will hand wash) and have a 1 year accidental breakage replacement.

Wow!!! That is really exciting!!!! We haven''t received any wedding gifts yet...just shower gifts...but they''re all exciting!!!

I was just thinking before I saw this post that your wedding was coming up pretty quick! I''m so excited for you...and so glad to hear you got your first place setting/wedding gift! I have put mine through the dishwasher and it was fine. I think the first time I used the china I hand-washed it, but the past few times I''ve been sticking them in the dishwasher because I''m more afraid I''ll drop a piece into the sink and break it rather than something happening to it in the dishwasher. I also don''t want my relatives or anyone else washing or drying them just in case--I would rather be the one who damages the china then get upset with someone else or have them feel bad if something happened.

Do you know where you''re going to store your china? Mine is still in its original boxes in my hope chest! Our dining room is too small for the china cabinet we want, so we are waiting until we move into a bigger house to buy one. Those fabric storage things bug me for some reason...so until we move they are staying in the hope chest, lol!

Yay! Congratulations! Isn't it fun?? I haven't received any wedding gifts yet, but we did just register the other day (though we're not having a shower, people kept asking where we're engaged, so we figured "why not?!") and that was awesome!

Sorta related: when we got engaged, my Dad and stepmother took us out for dinner and gave us gifts -- boxers for him and for me a cute PJs set from Victoria's Secret. We now call them "our engagement underwear"

Thanks everyone! I was just so excited I had to share. The wedding is Aug 12th so just around the corner. The gift was from his parent''s neighbors which is SOOO generous seeing how my FI and I don''t really know them. (His parents moved to a new house a few years ago).

Monarch-I am not sure where I am going to store it!

I am going to keep them in their boxes in case I only get a few settings. After that who knows. I did register for those fabric things. Why do they bug you?

OFG-I believe I did post (or I know Monarch did, we are China Twins!) It is Vera Wang''s Grosgrain. I''ll dig up a picture from the internet to show you. I love it!

ellaila- why aren''t you having any showers? I was really nervous about my last one (I am not great about being the center of attention) but it was so much fun. My second/ last shower is next weekend.

Hi,

We''re having a small wedding, so my mom and I both felt funny about having a shower. A lot of her friends that aren''t invited to the wedding were actually the ones pushing us TO have a shower, saying it''d be their chance to celebrate with me, but ... we still felt uncomfortable about it. Even if a lot of people feel that way, there''d still definitely be a group who''d say "I can''t believe she invited me to the shower and not the wedding!" -- and I don''t want people to talk about me!

I''m just as happy NOT to have one, to tell you the truth! I''m not a big fan of them. I''ve never once looked forward to going to anyone else''s shower, so this way I save people the dread of going to mine!

Tacori, I think they bugged me when I first looked at them because I didn''t like whatever flowery pattern BB&B had when I saw them there....and then I decided that I wouldn''t have a place to put the protectors/fabric things because they were irregular shaped (circular, like hat boxes) and that I would just rather keep the china in its boxes so it would fit neatly into the hope chest I''ve been using. Also, if I''d gone with the fabric things I would''ve had to store them in a closet, and I hate how you pull something off the top shelf of a closet and it''s covered with dust!

--whereas the hope chest is basically dust free because it''s always closed. I know, I''m VERY particular about this topic, lol!!!

The ones I saw where just plain white or Ivory. I don''t have a hope chest....oh well. I will figure something out!
