My sweet aunt saw me favoring these beads out of her big bin of jewelry making supplies & gifted them to me but couldn't remember what they are & I never found a sale tag like the others.

My thoughts are green tourmaline or vesuvianite. Maaaybeee sphene?!

What do you think?

I'm going to make a couple bracelets from them to enjoy but I hate not knowing what a mineral is!

Also it's definitely not peridot fyi, the color for some of the beads is way way off and there are tons of inclusions which are uncommon to peridot. No lily pad inclusions.

The beads are all different shades of green-yellow-brown. With most being apple green.

Tell me your best guess!!

Nice shades of green there
Nice aunty !
Enjoy

@TheGarnetGirl - I think your guess of tourmaline and vesuvianite is correct. They could be a mix of both. There could be some aventurine mixed in as well. I don't think they are serpentine. Serpentine is usually more opaque with a waxy or greasy lustre.

Dyed and treated jade is my guess.

Thank you for everyone's guesses!
I still am not sure but Im leaning towards my two guesses.
The texture, inclusions, & luster is right for either tourmaline or vesuvianite!

@MJ_Mac is correct & I happen to own a good lot of mixed serpentine which looks similar but not quite like this so I'd bet some money it's not serpentine, but I also don't think it's Jade at all. They both miss the mark for more than a couple characteristics but are good guesses!

I suppose I'll never know!

Ill have to update the thread when some fun little bracelets are made & I think I'll send one to my aunt!

@Daisys and Diamonds She is indeed sweet as pie! =)2
