My fiance gave me an engagement present because she thought since I spent all that money on her ring she could get me a little something to show off and also so that later on in life I''ll have it as a keep sake to remember the day we got engaged.

Also I was in need of a watch because I had never really owned a watched. I was completely against buying a nice watch for myself so I just simply bought the $6 wal-mart watches that looked decent but were complete crap.....so she went uot and bought me a very nice Chicago Cubs watch. I love it!

So i was wondering if you guys got your fiance an engagement present or know anyone who got their fiance a gift?

yep. i got my FI a Burberry tie. He loved it and plans to wear it at our rehearsal dinner.

I think it's a nice gesture, but I did not get FI anything as an engagement present. He already has a watch that I gave him for xmas one year and he has a bunch of ties and does not like jewelery, so that nixed anything like that. I mean really though, he did get me, and I am quite the gift.

hehe, just kidding

Same here. I got my husband a watch our first Christmas together and he never wore jewelry (I''m surprised he wears his wedding ring everyday!). I tried to think of something to get him, but he refused to give me any ideas and always said that he didn''t need anything from me so I didn''t get him an engagement gift.

I got my fiance a watch too

I got FI cufflinks from Tiffany''s. He wears dress shirts to work and likes the cufflink look. Plus I had gotten him nice watch and had it engraved for our first anniversary. (Wow, over 6 years ago!) He adamately REFUSES to have me buy him a new watch. Otherwise, that is what I would''ve gotten him.

I haven''t actually given it to him yet. But I bought a beautiful painted plate in greece with a picture of Odysseus'' ship on it. I''m planning on telling him that I''ll be as loyal and patient as Penelope. I''m going to need the patience part!

My fiance's friends have gotten flat-screen TVs for their engagement presents... so he's had his heart set on that idea for a while now! And now that the ring's been on my finger for 2 months, he's getting a little anxious for his present... so I've been doing some online research.

I know a TV isn't a long-term investment, but it's something he wants and wouldn't ordinarily buy for himself. I assume I'll get him something a bit more "traditional" for a wedding-day present...I think the best gift is something that actually gets used... so maybe a nice watch? I'm sure I'll be back here looking for suggestions!

Mine has a nice watch already, so he''s getting a playstation portable! Not the most sentimental thing in the world, but he wants it, and I plan to put some pics of us together in it to give it that "engagementy" feel

I''d heard of it and we had planned on getting me a present. Never happened tho. I was supposed to get taillights for my car. I think she feels a little bad about not getting it cuz the infrequent times it''s popped up, she''s been supportive of letting me get it once we have some extra free cash.

I''m getting him whatever golf clubs he wants, plus extras. It''s a nice gift that is just for him, and he just loves getting away and playing with the boys! Plus clubs last a long time.

Most of my friends have given wedding gifts rather than engagement gifts to their husband so I guess that''s similar. It''s usually a nice watch or some big electronic purchase of some sort (e.g. big flat panel if that''s what he really wants). I''d want to do something similar as well since I like to give gifts in general and he is spending a pretty penny on my engagement ring so I think it''s only nice if I did something in kind and even then it wouldn''t be anywhere close to how much he spent on me.

For my fiancee''s wedding present, I am going to give him a beautiful leather-bound journal. He doesn''t know that yet. See, he writes in one now and has for the past several years. I figured it would be symbolic to get him a new one, kind of in the "new life together, new book to write in" sense.
