groom''s cake????

i am having a grooms cake, and wanted to see if anyone else was. since my sister loves to be creative with her baking, she sort of thought of the idea, then we expanded. few ideas were a cake shaped like prime rib (his fave), or a racetrack (loves to bet on the horses) or a few other things. FI loves soft pretzels and slushies as well, so my sister thought of doing a cake shaped like both. i think it will be really cute, and although they are supposed to be chocolate flavored, he loves vanilla so that''s what it will be.

it''s a surprise for him, and i''m excited to see how it turns out!

I had our baker make a surprise one for DH..we ended up not eating a lot of it, but it was cute nonetheless. I will post pics of it in a bit. I think they''re a fun addition!

I did one, july 11th wedding, it was a total surprise to DH.

Grooms'' cakes! DH had one and though it wasn''t real whimsical, he added chocolate medallions that had all of his interests on them and the cake was special to both of us. I''m sure your FI is going to love it!!

I think I''m going to surprise FI with a Sasquatch groom''s cake. Haha! It will be carrot cake and 3-D. He used to always go look around in the woods trying to find sasquatch with his friends, not really being serious, just because it was fun and they took video cameras and everything! And he always watches those crytozoology Discovery shows about him! I think it would be hilarious.

I hadn''t really thought about that - we''re doing cupcakes so won''t really have a basic cake as it is. When do people usually serve the groom''s cake? We would totally do that at the rehearsal dinner the night before. Probably something having to do with video games.

I think you usually cut and serve the groom''s cake at the same time that the wedding cake it being served.

I really like the idea that if you are doing a small wedding having the groom''s cake as part of the rehersal dinner.

I''m *sorta* crafty at cakes, so I might try and make it myself. If I do, we''ll probably put it on display at the rehearsal dinner (which is at my parent''s house)... and not at the wedding.

I may end up doing grooms cupcakes. They''re a bit easier.

oh what a great idea to have a personalized cake for FI, i''m sure he''ll really get a kick out of it

It''s costing a small fortune, but I''m also considering it the groom''s gift.

I''m having the baker make a Castle Grayskull cake. Red velvet. He knows there will be a groom''s cake & picked the flavor, but has no idea it will be a cake like that.
