What are/did you get your groom as his wedding present?? I''m looking for ideas...so GO!

TIA!

I haven't decided... but I'm thinking of a nice vintage/antique watch. He's already got a couple, and I'd like to get him another one... a tourneau style one. He has a round faced and a tank. He's just starting his collection... so I'd love to add to it for our wedding.

Alternate ideas: Nice cuff links.

I want whatever it is to last for him. So no electronics or anything that plugs in.

If those don't work... then NJ Devils collectibles would be nice. His favorite team.

Something really personal, and it would be nice if it increase in value over time.

I''m thinking about a Cyma watch. I don''t want to get him anything too flashy because of where we live... would hate for him to get mugged over his watch... but I want something that will hold up to what he can dish out. I just had the crystal replaced on his ESQ, so I definitely want a sapphire crystal on this one. I was hoping to get him one with a champagne face but when I showed him the options he pointed right at the blue one... just like his ESQ. The boy likes blue! Good thing I showed it to him.

I''m excited about my gift too... He let it slip today that it came from the jeweler so I have no idea what it might be but at least I know it''s jewelry! I didn''t even have a category before. He said I could have it early if I wanted but I''m trying to exercise restraint and wait. Just 150 days to go or something like that.

I bought my guy a framed/autographed professional photo of his favourite singer/song-writer from an art gallery.
A little different, but I know he''ll be surprised and thrilled

This may be TMI, but my bf loves the curve of my hip and my back so I''m thinking about having a professional B/W portrait done for him. It''ll just be the sihlouette of my back and hip. I''m going to put it in a silver/chrome frame for his home-office.

This is probably less traditional, but I am getting him three bottles of wine, one for our first anniversary, one for our 10th anniversary, and one for our 25th anniversary. He LOVES wine, so I thought this would be special and would last for several years. I went to a local winery and they told me which wines would peak in the years 2008, 2017, and 2032. I think he will really like it!!

I''m getting FI a pair of gold chain-link cufflinks - I''m designing an entwined mongram for him and I will have them professionally engraved - the old-fashioned way not laser engraving.

He doesn''t wear watches or like jewelllery.

He had a hollow gold chain and a fake gold pendant that was sentimental to him for the meaning behind the design. I bought him a new gold chain (not hollow!) and had the pendant recreated in solid gold for him.

kalispera--that''s a great idea for a wine lover...you should include a little note to each one that you can read at that time as well.

Hudson: ohhla la...that pic will be distracting while your hubby-to-be tries to work in the home office

I like that idea too Kalispera. I also heard a neat idea (maybe it was on PS somewhere?) that a father bought a bunch of wines with the year his daughter was born and opened them up for her wedding.

I gave him a his first "nice" watch- a Concord Mariner and sterling cufflinks that I had engraved w/ his initials in the same font combination as was used in our wedding invites.

I found a random site (www.e-winegifts.com/), and went through a bunch of their wines and picked 3 different ones in the $50-$100 range that said in their descriptions they would be good for the years 2008, 2012, and 2017 (1st, 5th and 10th anniversaries).... if I'd put more time into it, I probably could have found some that would be better for longer (ie., 25th anniversary).... but since I don't know THAT much about wine, this seemed the safest way to do it!

ETA -- I ordered mine 2-day shipping, so maybe you should wait until mine arrive, and I can let you know whether the site is reputable or not!!

we got the groomsmen pocket knives.

As we''re paying for half of the wedding ourselves and trying to save up for a house, we''re on a limited budget, so we probably won''t give each other "official" gifts. We''re spending a little more on our wedding bands, though, about 1K each.

I''m thinking of something similar- LOVE this idea, and FI is a huge wine guy, so it will mean a lot to him if I go to the trouble of researching the wine to find out when it will peak.

I also like the idea of presenting it in a handmade "wine box" of some sort with an engraved tag, etc. I will have to look online and see if there is such a thing.

Oh YAY! I''m so glad that you guys liked my idea! I kind of look at it as a gift that keeps on giving. Jas, I will have to add little notes to each, I think that''s a great idea! It will be really funny to look back at them on our anniversaries and see how much we''ve changed/grown/etc!!

love the wine idea... we''ve done that for wedding gifts to close friends.

i''m getting my FI a road bike .... he''s been wanting one forever... now, the only problem is when to give it to him?... we are getting married in oct. so that won''t leave too much time for him to ride before it gets too cold here... do i give it to him early so he can enjoy it all summer?

and for the groomsmen i think we are going to do ipod shuffles with their initials on them (filled with our fav. music of course ;)
