Grooms Idea of a cake...

Ok so...lol...my FI is a wacko!

Alright he isnt. but...we just had our cake consulltation.

Both of us have a great love of board games and i thought it might be nice and personal if we had custom made cake toppers. One of the first games we played together, and both love is carassone. I decided to have the cake chef make us bride and groom meeples (the carcassone playing peices)

Alright, so i thought that would be nice and they would be black with white tux shirt and a white one with pearl necklace and a viel. OK. and then the cake would be normal. I am pretty plain so i was thinking a cream colored fondant with blue/brown (our colors) ribbon on the bottom of the tiers. You guys know what i am saying right?

I ve tried to keep a simple yet classic kind of elegance feel in my wedding planning.

Anyway...back to my wacko FI


He decides that he really likes cakes with little things on it. Lets call them...little peices of flare. And decides he wants actual meeples (colored ones) and pics and dragons (all peices from the game) to be made and resisting on the tiers! Now, i think its cute and kitchy and nice and all for say a birthday cake or whatever. Or a theme cake. but a wedding cake?? lets see if i can get some photos...

I was thinking something like this but with the meeples on top all dressed up for a wedding and no flowers. i know it isnt very creative but...i like "cookie cutter"

FI saw this cake and decided that he liked the idea of my cake with ribbons but instead of cards on top he wanted the wedding meeples and where the poker chips are he wanted other meeple peices made like a blue and red meeple with the pig on the middle teir.

and then the dragon peice a little off to the left on the bottom.


LOL.

I of course told him if it was what he wanted he could have it and ordered it but, I still think its a little too playful for a wedding cake.


Hey, at least it will be original. And we will have maybe a write up of what it all means. We were thinking of ordering meeple shaped back to back sugar and chocolate bride and groom cookies from her as favors. where we would put a little card explaining the whole meeple/carcasson theme. Though I think everyone at the wedding except the grandparents know what they are anyway.

Anyway, just thought i would share the differences in the workings of the male and female mind.

THAT''S funny! it''s amazing how accurate that whole mars venus theory is in regard to the genders, huh? now i''m afraid to even broach the topic with my FI for fear that he''ll want a lord of the rings vs. star wars cake or something ::cracks up at the thought of frodo vs. vader in culinary warfare::

haha, thats awesome! No one around here really knows about that game, but one of my aunts brought it to a family gathering and my FI LOVED it after we played and actually bought me one of the games along with an expansion pack. However, I don''t know that he loves it enough to make our cake themed after it HOWEVER again, he DID want to have a dragon on the cake... like one made out of frosting, and actually I totally would''ve let him do it, the place we''re getting our cake had a few cakes for other occasions where they crafted a frosting dragon for it, and it looked awesome! I was thinking she could do like two dragons on top instead of just one, but FI decided not to bother because it''s too hard to be sure it''ll turn out how he''s picturing it, and instead let me get a burst of stars for the top I''m a star freak, so it''s totally fitting, but anyways I ramble. Just wanted to say thats really neat and if you decide to do your cake that way I''m sure it''ll be awesome!

I made some marzipan dragons for a "gingerbread" house contest once. It was really a sugar castle with a damsel in distress (the dragon was attacking!) and a prince coming to save her. 3 inch long green dragon with orange wings. It was pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

Hmmm...maybe I''ll put a dragon on our cake...

oh, man, I am so NOT asking FI about the wedding cake! He would DEFINITELY want Star Wars, or Battlestar Galactica, or some kind of sci-fi thing on it. Thanks for the warning girls! haha
