Guesses about the era of my ring?

Hi!

Now that I've found PS, I'm curious to see if anyone has thoughts on my engagement ring. We got it way back in 2003, and I love it! I don't know much about it, except the appraisal says it is a .75 ct center stone flanked by 8 small diamonds. Old European Cut. G, VS1. Set in platinum.

I've always thought it was probably from the 1940s.

Any guesses?

Your ring is beautiful, and the center stone OEC looks to have a particularly lovely facet pattern!

I browsed through Lang Antiques and they have an Art Deco circa 1920s-1930s diamond ring that is very similar to your ring, excepting the center stone is an OMC and secured with tab prongs

Wow! @marymm that is a near exact twin of my ring! I've never been able to find anything remotely this similar to mine. So, perhaps my ring is older then I thought, 20s or 30s! Very cool.

My center stone is a little bit smaller, and the cut is slightly different, yes. But a remarkable likeness.

I found a similar ring to yours and it says C1935 and fits in with the art deco period. Just ignore the pricing (it's in AUD and everything here is overpriced lol).

That's amazing, @maryjane04 !! Thank you so much. This ring is also nearly the same as mine although it has 12 tiny diamonds flanking it and I have eight. The side view is slightly different, and it looks like it has a brilliant cut diamond. I wonder if it's a newer diamond set in an antique ring?

This is fascinating. Definitely looks like my ring is from the art deco era, not the 40s like I thought!
