Ok, i''m not sure if I''m allowed to post this Jim Breuer - Getting Married (if it doesn''t work just do a youtube search for jim breuer - gettimg married)

It''s hilarious - Jim Breuer talks about the differences in reaction of getting engaged in men vs. women.

Have you guys noticed this in real life though?? I know one of my boyfriend''s best friends got engaged.. any my BF didn''t even find out about it until like a week or two after it happened - and he didn''t even hear the news directly from the guy! He heard about it from another mutual friend! And that''s not even the only example I''ve got..

It''s almost like guys dread telling their other guy friends that they''re getting married! It seem as though it''s news that''s mentioned in passing at the next phone conversations or get-together and that''s that (IF it''s even brought up at all). I''m sure there''s exceptions to the rule.. have you guys (gals) noticed this at all?

The video made me crack up!

Yes, I have seen this in real life. More often than not the guys aren''t mourning the engagement, they just don''t get as excited as girls tend to. I think it''s because we usually have the ring to oogle, a story to ahhh over and we immediately turn to the wedding details.

I did see a group of my FI''s friends react very negatively when a friend announced his engagement. It was not something I would care to see again.

I doubt my fiance called up all his guy friends and family when we got engaged. He figured people would find out eventually. I just thought that guys don''t get emotional over that kind of thing, though maybe some of them would think he was losing his freedom or something equally ridiculous (he lost that a long time ago, lol!)

The people who meant most to him (his best friend, his mom, etc) knew he was proposing, so in his mind, there was no need to spread the news, as the important people already had been informed.

That's not been my experience. Some of my best friends are guys and the night they got engaged, they spent hours on the phone calling their family and every person in our group of friends (mostly other guys and me) to tell us personally about the proposal. It's very sweet.

i have definitely noticed that in real life, lol. the other day at school i mentioned that a friend of mine recently got engaged and the guy that sits behind me in class said "WHAT?!? you got engaged?? why would you DO that?"

D rang every single one of his friends on his phone when we got engaged! We had a HUGE phone bill. He was only going to ring his best friends and then he decided he wanted to ring everyone else that was on his phone. Bear in mind we were in Barcelona also so the charges back to Ireland were high!! It was one of my favourite things about our engagement-I loved hearing him telling everyone!

My BF told his friends he bought me a ring and there were happy... they love me... we are all really good friends, and he made me show them a picture of the ring.. :-) oh and I dont even have the ring yet... but apparently he told his friends the "plan" but they wont give me ANY hints... grrr

That is exactly what my FI did- he told everyone.

The weekend after we got engaged we went to a music festival with our friends, and after a few drinks FI would tell anyone who would listen how we were enagaged, how he asked and showing them my ring.

It was adorable! (I think he might even be more excited than me?)

My DH called his family and a few close friends within hours of our engagement, and he called he other good friends within a few weeks.

that was really funny, thanks. how can they be so different? are we sure they are human???

Of course not - haven''t women figured that out yet???

FI didn''t tell any of his guy friends right away, not even his best man. The best man found out about it because another mutual friend saw our "engaged" status on Facebook within a week and told everyone we know in Boston. Lol. FI called best man to arrange our visit to Boston and 15 minutes into the conversation best man says "Hey, aren''t you guys engaged? B told me that he saw it on Facebook."

FI also didn''t ask best man to be the best man for like 3 months after this. My MOH let it slip who was in the wedding party to another girl we went to college with, so FI had to get asking fast before this girl spilled the beans. Guys are silly. And it''s not like any of his friends would tease him about it because all of his friends are my friends (we went to college together) and I know they were super excited for us.

In FI''s defense though, he was super excited to call his mom the night we got engaged
