hi all i'm new to this forum... anyway i have a question about hair coloring... it took me like at least 10yrs to finally stop harming my hair... it was a miracle that i finally grow out my hair and back to its natural roots which is black or should i say B L A H......... let be very honest here and maybe it is me that think this way... but everytime i see someone with brown with blond highlights or something similar that curl their hair, i have to say it blend into this 3combination that really makes a person stand out.... but with black hair umm yea its black but it doesn't really stand out and i guess sometime especially black hair if you dyed it'll make a person look like this gothic freaks... one side of me i just don't want to regret something that im afraid to try especially the wedding day for us girl it is something very special to us butttt the other side in the past yeah it was niceee that peroxide have onced ruled my hair for so many years its look nice but it wasn't niceee at all when it dry, dead, unhealthy...etc... im not so sure if i want to go back to that stage again..... peroxide is like drug onced it kick in man it keeps going and going for more peroxide and yeah before you know it you just fudge up your hair big time but there's no way of turning back... so is it really worth it at all to welcome back Mr Peroxide in my life just for a one day thing??????? below are a pic of me with black hair but i don't tend to keep this hair style for my wedding was thinking about curls and with curls i think its better off with brown with blond highlights.........?

Welllll.......... imo (as a stylist), it takes so much to lighten black hair to a nice brown that isn''t brassy or orange that you will definately notice that your hair will feel a bit damaged. But, you could find a stylist that can add a few lighter colored extensions in your hair that will make it look highlighted. Look for someone who does extensions that are added in small clusters of hair instead of long tracks. I have done this for some of my clients in the past and it works great! Plus then you don''t have the commitment of growing it all out again

good luck!

SoCute, your natural black hair color is GORGEOUS! I know what you mean about dark hair looking beautiful with some blonde highlights, but seriously, I think a head of natural, black hair that is shiny and healthy trumps the highlighted thing. I have very dark brown hair (almost black) but have highlighted it over and over again to the point that if I go back to my natural color now all of a sudden it would look...un-natural. KWIM?

I agree with happy in love, if you could find someone to do some extensions in your hair that were lighter so you didn''t have to revert back to damaging your natural hair with peroxide, you should do that. There''s no point in ruining your hair again for just your wedding day. What does you FI think? Does he like your natural look, or does he prefer you with highlights? I bet he wouldn''t want you to ruin your gorgeous hair again...

My natural hair color is black also. I also damaged, highlighted, and fried my hair for several years. Only now is it back to it''s healthy state. I also contemplated highlights in my hair for my upcoming wedding, but the more I think about it, I love my dark, diva-licious hair. Not many people have naturally black hair and I think healthy, shiny dark hair is stunningly beautiful - think Catherine Zeta Jones!

I, personally, think that your hair color is stunning on you and does loads for your facial features! I wouldn''t touch the color, IMO

I LOVE black hair, especially with pale-ish skin. Yours is gorgeous, thick, lustrous, healthy. not to mention YOU'RE gorgeous! Holy shmoly. Usually, hair colour and skin tone naturally match, and yours really do so I wouldn't mess around too much if I were you.

I'm sure on your wedding day that you won't need anything extra to make you 'stand out'. You'll be a beautiful bride.

If you want to do something different with your hair for your wedding, why not try to find an unusual style? Or a spectacular jeweled comb or clip?

I think you might regret frying your hair again.

i really appreciated! yeah for a while i did learn to accepts my natural color and didn''t really have any problems having this color for my wedding until i''ve talked to my buddy last week... and now im back to the undecided stage...

yeah i did thought about color extension but ive talked to my stylist and others professional too but haha black hair only have one choice of highlights which is blood red or anything that deep colors but not blonds... and it is true alot of times us girls when we have long hair we want our hair to be short, when we have short we want it long, when we deep fryed our hair soo much we wanted to go back to natural then yeah when we''re back to natural color we think it is boring...........

You have amazing hair!

I would kill to have lovely thick, glossy black hair like that.

Instead mine is kind of dark mouse - it''s very shiny, but very fine and you can''t do anything with it at all!

You are mad to do anything other than keep it looking like in that photo!

SoCute, I agree with everybody else here that your hair is gorgeous and I love the contrast of your dark hair with fair skin.

I just met with my stylist a few weeks ago, though my trial isn''t until later this month. I''d grown my natural color out 4 inches (!!) so that she had quite a bit to work with and she did a great job of simply boosting my natural color a little and I"m really happy with it. She said that 90% of brides she works with do tend to want their natural color without any starkly contrasting highlights because natural looks best in photos--she mentioned that everybody sees those "frosted hair" wedding photos from the 80''s and they don''t want to make the same mistake.

i think any bride should do whatever makes her feel great whether it''s pink hair or a pixie cut (or both!), but if you do want to try to keep it natural then stick with current gorgeous hair color!

I understand what you are saying. In college, I experimented with so many different colors and highlights that my hair was over processed, which left it lifeless. Post college, I vowed to let my hair grow out and I did, only to highlight it a few years later! :) After highlighting it, I realized again why I wanted to keep my hair natural and then grew those out. It has been a few years and now I look at my boring medium brown hair and want to do something different with it, which I will probably regret.

I personally love the look of dark hair against the white or ivory of a wedding dress. I have seen many brides and the ones with dark hair look so stunning! Plus, there is something nice about looking natural on your wedding day.

I love the look of natural dark hair. There is nothing more beautiful than that!!!!!! You are lucky!!

PLEASE don''t even THINK about doctoring your gorgeous hair!!!! It''s so full of shine and life that you would lose with the damage from bleaching it. There''s such a tendency for people to covet what they don''t have instead of realizing and appreciating what beauty they''ve been given naturally. Find a beautiful sparkly hair accessory to bring attention to your beautiful hair. Combine that with your great looks and you''ll be sure to knock their socks off on your wedding day.

As a blonde, I covet your long, shiny, black hair. It''s gorgeous and my hair will never shine like that! I also think everyone looks best with as close to their natural shade as possible. Sure, a few highlights or lowlights are fine, but when you do something so drastic as add highlights to black hair.... it doesn''t always look pretty.

I wouldn''t touch your hair! It''s beautiful!

I guess you already decided, but if you want more dimension in your hair, you should consider getting two shades of brown highlights. That way it''s still natural looking and you won''t be frying your hair. I did that to my hair before (last time was last year) and it still look healthy. The good thing about doing brown highlight is that when your root grow out, it blends in well with the highlights and you can''t tell that your root had grown out. I''ll see if I can find a good pic of my hair that will show you what I mean.
