Hi guys! I need your help trying to figure out what to do with this mane of mine. I finally scheduled an appointment to get it cut (as it's WAY overdue), and don't really have an idea as to what to do with it. I have naturally curly hair, but I like to be able to straighten it too, so I need something versatile. My only requirement is that it still be long enough to pull up into a ponytail without a million pieces of hair falling out everywhere. That's really it though! Soooo, with that in mind, help me!! I need ideas! No mohawks, please.

Attaching pics of current hair so you can get an idea as to texture and current length (about an inch below my bra strap)! I think I was about 7 the last time my hair was this long! Yikes! It's actually quite a bit shorter in the first photo, but that one gives a better idea of the texture. The others were taken around Christmas, so it's even a bit longer than that now!

ETA - DARN! Didn't work. I'm going to try again.

There we go! The first pic was taken a while ago, so my hair''s quite a bit longer, but it gives you a better idea of how it curls.

Your hair is just beautiful the way it is! However, I just got my past my shoulders length hair bobbed to a little longer than chin length yesterday myself, so I understand the need for change. I like the pic you posted. I really have no idea how curly hair should be cut. I think your stylist has to really know what they''re doing for sure. Have you had it layered before? I think you should try something new. Maybe not a drastic step for starters though, unless you''re really adventurous. Good luck!

HI:

The love that length/ cut of MM. Personally I cannot handle short bangs--but they are cute with the right cut, and are stylish at the moment!

I have a hair appt on Friday at noon and my mane (a bit shorter than yours) is coming off. I will go for a mid-length bob to my chin--so I can tuck my hair behind my ears and still use an iron to waves.

Good luck on what you decide!

cheers--Sharon

That''s pretty much exactly what I did, but my hair is not curly. Thick and sometimes wavy. *BUT* I did this cut specifically so I could tuck my hair behind an ear or both and finally be able to have earrings show up! When my hair is long, there''s no point even wearing them.

I love your hair, but I'm biased as mine is similar!

I like Mandy Moore's cut but I would make sure you are up for the maintenance of bangs. I'm now growing mine out 'cause while I love the bangs when my hair is straight, they don't look so hot curly.

How 'bout this look? It's similar to Mandy's but the bangs are longer as is the length. I had this cut and it worked well with my hair. I was able to straighten it pretty easily as well.

Here's another picture of the same haircut.

Lyra - Thanks for the compliments! I do like my hair nice and long, but it''s just way too much work at this point, and ends up being a real pain in the neck. Luckily, my hair''s not a real pain to work with if I let it air dry curly, but I start to look like a ChiaPet if it''s too short!

Canuk-gal and CDNinNYC- I love this cut too. I haven''t had bangs in a really long time, so I kind of want them again, but don''t want them to be too short or anything. I tend to look really bad with the kind of bangs that go straight across your forehead, although I love that look on others.

I also like those pics that you posted CDN. Thanks!

I think I want something a little bit shorter than that, so lengthwise maybe somewhere between MM''s and the pics that you posted.

If anyone else has any suggestions, send ''em my way!

So, how''d the appointment go? Would love to see pictures!

Ok Squee, I''ve been checking this thread all night and still no pics, ha ha! I hope you are liking your new ''do and are willing to share it with us!

Hey ladies! Well, it''s cut alright! He ended up taking off about 9 inches!

If I''d let it grow about another inch or so, I could have donated it to locks of love, but oh well. I didn''t get a chance to take pics yet, because by the time I got home last night, I just wanted to pass out! I''ll take some tonight and post them though! I love it, although I feel bald in comparison to how much hair I had before!

I''ll keep you posted!

HI:

Look forward to pics!!!

9 inches??!!! Wow, you're brave. I just got my hair cut on Wednesday and the stylist only took off 1/4 inch and that was enough!
