Hallmarking

Looking for some advice. Is it possible to get a piece of jewellery hallmarked without the risk of damaging it?

- what type of jewelry item?
- who do you think is going to do the hallmark? (its usually done at the time the piece is made so I would think a jewelry maker would
be reluctant to do it at a later date)
- I'm no expert so wait for further opinions.

Hi - you can definitely have a piece of jewelry hallmarked, engraved, etc after it is made, without damaging the item - retailers, labs, and jewelers do it all the time, and almost everyone uses lasers that wont harm the item (there are some exclusions to this)
