I'm totally addicted to this web site!!! A hardy thank you goes out to all the experts who have helped me along so far.

I love the look of the AVC/Chunky/OMC cushions. The link here is wonderful ring ****.

My questions are this...
Halos seem to be everywhere now, but I have noticed only one AVC with a halo. Why is that? Do halos take away from the sparkle of this special cut? Do halos block out light? Do halos with a bezel set allow as much light to pass through as prong set?

I was thinking of going with a flush mount (might not be the right term) AVC with prongs inside a halo. Think Tiffany Legacy, but with an AVC and a more delicate halo with "less metal"

Thanks again for the help

I think the term you mean is bezel set.

I can't comment on the rest of your post because i have no idea. I do love the AVC's though and I was thinking of getting one to halo for my next upgrade (years from now) but I would do a prong set halo HW style. So i'm very curious to see what the experts say.

Oh I love an AVC in a halo! I think the proportion of AVCs in halos to AVCs in solitaires in that thread is similar to the proportions for RBs and other shapes. There is no proactical reason not to halo an AVC. BUT I prefer a prong set halo to a bezel set because then you really appreciate the high crown as it pillows up over the halo

I am considering the same thing (AVC w/ halo). Would love to see this thread keep going!

I have an AVC and I've considered doing a halo reset as well. I'm not convinced, though - after viewing several halos, I wonder if it would detract from the beauty of the stone, so I haven't done anything (yet!).

HI:

Setting choice is a very personal--have you tried on many halo's designs? Your stone would be lovely set in one--but would also look very well set as a solitaire with no bezel.

cheers--Sharon
