I'd posted a few weeks ago about wanting to get rid of my halo and get another type of setting, or possibly back to the original solitaire I'd had prior to the halo. Thank you so much to everyone who responded, helped and had different opinions. They all helped because I was stuck, indecisive, nervous about wasting more money, etc.
I ended up with a solitaire and diamonds on the shank. It was my previous diamond that DH upgraded for me almost 9 years ago. I love the stone so much and for sentimental reasons can never part with it. I still find it the perfect size, and the sparkles and light it gives out are amazing. I thought I'd have issues with finger coverage after getting rid of my big halo, but it's been the exact opposite. I have plenty of finger coverage and found out that's not really what I was after - I need sparkle and icy whiteness!
I then had issues with finding a great band to pair with the new setting. I settled on the third band I tried. It's a little bigger than my ring's width, but in person it looks very seamless and cohesive (the pics brought out a ton of detail)! It's a lower profile band that matches my ring's height perfectly and doesn't deter from the diamond, it also allows you to see the pretty basket. Yet still gives off a lot of bling.
I don't have a detailed appraisal for either, just the basic appraisal I received from the jewelers. I'd like a more in depth appraisal for both eventually. Here are the specs as I know them:
Diamond
0.96 ct
G SI1
Round brilliant
Diamond band setting
0.56 ct
G-H SI1 - SI2
Round brilliant
Ring size 6.5 (a little big, don't like a tight ring)
Wedding band
1 ct
H-I SI1
Round brilliant
Ring size 6.5
I just wanted to thank everyone again who helped me and joined in my excitement. And I was so excited! This is my dream setting. I'd had my halo for a year, but knew within a month or so that it wasn't quite for me. At least that type of halo (I like a much more delicate halo). But I'm glad I tried it, and finally know what's right for me. I'll attach a pic of it at the end. I also took new pictures of my ring and this is the only place I can really share them without anyone really getting tired of them, ha ha. I've taken so many....I think I have a problem!
