Just wanted to extend an update.......I had posted a while ago about my bachelor party concerns and my FI''s lack of understanding on the issue. Well, we "discussed" the subject several times. I think his issue was disappointment that I was bothered by it (since I think he always thought he would do the Vegas thing like several of his friends did) and probably a heavy dose of reality that he finally had to consider someone other than himself in life. He ended up deciding he could never have any fun knowing how upset I would be about the matter. I think maybe losing a little independence is harder for a 42yr. old man than younger guys.........and probably harder for men than women in general. After all the stress and drama, he admitted he would never want to damage our relationship over something like that that is not too important in the scheme of things. He told me I was the best thing that ever happened to him and he would never want to screw that up!
It probably didn''t hurt that for 3-4 weeks everytime we watched a movie/tv there would be something on with a scene in a strip club! It only reinforced my fears and what he wanted to deny actually went on there....haha.......so I think he just waived the white flag. We aren''t particularly religious, but I''m sure he felt it was a sign that somebody was on my side!
We also just got finished navigating our pre-nup. I saw the other thread on the subject and was following what others were saying. I agree it is somewhat stressful to get through the process.......but we did it and are both satisfied. In fact, I am very happy with the results and feel much more secure now. I would recommend it to almost everyone. We live in a complicated world.
After working through all this, we are both so very happy and really looking forward to our wedding Sept. 25th in Venice! I think we are closer than ever. A crisis or two can really show you how much you mean to each other.
