Here’s what I chose for my Valentine gift this year. She is a rescue from one of our local shelters and has been through some rough times, but is being spoiled rotten now.
Happy Valentine’s Day to all, from Lulu and me ( and to your furry family members too!).

Hi Missy,
Thank you for your kind wishes. I saw the picture of your Valentine flowers . They are gorgeous,

Hi Matata,
She is of the “silent but deadly” variety of flatulent fidos. I am investing in more air fresheners for every room !

Aww, thanks! So far she’s my little Velcro dog…..stuck to my leg like glue is where she feels safest right now. I’m sure that will get better with time. It’s kind of exhausting , but worth it!

Thanks Mustangchi,
Lulu is the smallest dog we’ve ever had , weighing 14 lbs. When she doesn’t listen to me , I can just pick her up and carry her where she needs to go. I’m beginning to think she has convenient hearing loss and just prefers to be carried everywhere.

Shelters are stressful and don't necessarily serve good quality food both of which can contribute to flatulence. Fingers crossed that once she is settled and fed a better diet her flatulence will lessen or even cease.

Really hope so. Also, our vet put her on antibiotics for 10 days , saying that it was warranted since heaven only knows what she had been eating or drinking before Animal Care Services found her .

Awww. :kiss2:

Lulu is a big chi! Mine are around 6.5-7lbs. My male doesn't listen to me for sure but he's so fiesty that just picking him up when he doesn't listen isn't always an option lol! Luckily most of the time he's just a lot of growl and no actual bite. Most of the time.

Lulu is Chihuahua, Dachshund and ( I think) Rat Terrier mix. Feisty seems to be a common characteristic of small breeds. She charged a doe in our yard. I wasn’t expecting that. Fortunately for the doe, I had her in her harness and leash.
Can’t imagine having dogs as little as yours! How do you keep from stepping on them?

Awww! Congratulations on your chisweenie! Adorbs! I am full time mom to a Malti-mutt and part-time mom to a chugweenie (chihuahua-pug-weenie)!

You should post their pictures. Would love to see what those combinations look like!

Talk about adorable! Adorbs times two!

More pics please!

Thank you for rescuing. I have a rescue pup and also volunteer.

Mine too, a Boston Terrier. They are known for this.

Yes, its a talent.

Have you rescued before? If so, this may be redundant, but if not, this seems to be fairly accurate from my experience.

It is tough sometimes lol. I was just joking to my coworker the other day that sometimes I walk in with my old bladder about to explode and I am dodging chis under my feet trying to get to the bathroom!

She is just adorable! Congrats and Happy Valentines Day to you!! Would love more pics!

Congrats on your new pup, she's so cute.

We adopted a Dachschund that needed a home almost 2 years ago. He's about 11.5 years old and 17 lbs.

The breed was never on our radar, but he's truly the star wherever he goes!
Everyone loves a hot dog dog! Everyone loves tiny dogs!

I hope Lulu brings you much happiness.

We have rescued before ( Lulu is our 10th dog ,so far) but they usually find us instead of us going through a formal adoption. I appreciate the chart you posted . It’s a great reference tool for monitoring the stages , and, according to the chart, she’s progressing well.
I just have the feeling that, because she’s small and Henry is big, the size difference is adding to her stress . We never leave them alone together and are very careful during potentially dangerous times such as feeding and anything involving treats/toys. She has a large patch of permanent scarring down one front leg that may have been from a dog attack . Still, Lulu and Henry are beginning to accept each other…. Lots of derrière sniffing and covering each other’s potty places. TMI…. sorry!

HI:

Would probiotics help?

cheers--Sharon

This is so sweet. I really believe that if since they haven't hated each other on first sight they will be friends. My little Schnauzer hated his Chiweenie friend at first site. I had to muzzle him. Two days later he deferred his toys, his sleeping spots, everything he owned to his Chiweenie. I never saw two dogs love each other more. It brings me to tears just remembering how firmly they bonded and how the Chiweenie made the last year of his life so enjoyable. Chiweenies are special.

Hi Sharon,
I’m trying probiotic supplements and her dry food is formulated for sensitive tummies. Thanks for the suggestion. Appreciate it!

Nothing would make me happier than to see our two pups cuddled up together like your two pups used to do. Thanks for the encouragement and for sharing your happy memories.

Thank you. I hope your Valentine’s Day was wonderful. I just added pictures. Lulu’s
fan @Karl_K requested them.
