HI:

Can''t decide where to go for vacay in July--thinking of Cancun/Playa Del Carmen. I''ve been to Acapulco in the summer, but not here. Anyone? We are thinking of staying at the Ritz Carleton.

cheers--Sharon

Sharon,
Is July hurricane season yet? I went in August and didn''t have the best weather. Incidentally, congratters on the anniversary!

We went in August of 06 and had PERFECT weather.

Haven''t been there in YEARS, not since I was a kid, but when I went I think it was March-April, can''t recall. Anyway, if you go and you like to take tours of ruins and stuff like that, definitely take a bus to Chichen Itza. It was awesome!

From what I remember though too, Cancun has some pretty rough water sometimes. Lots of riptide. Don''t swim when there are black flags out! Me and another kid snuck out to swim early and ended up what seemed like a mile away from our hotel. Both good swimmers luckily cuz the beach guard with a whistle won''t help.

Also, hurricane season starts late August...

My husband and I used to go to Playa del Carmen once a year until we had our daughter. It's only a 3-hour plane ride from where we live. : -)

I've been in July once and it was very hot (as you would expect). As long as you stay near a pool or the ocean, you're fine.

April is our favorite time of the year to go (although it's a little too late for that now, isn't it?)

Enjoy!

ETA: I recommend The Royal.

HI:

As of alte, NOAA has been my favorite haunt

; with hurricanes in the Caribe, earthquakes in Cali, and volcanos in Hawaii, it leaves little place to holiday
