Or known anyone who has? Is it possible to sit in these??? I''m thinking that this might be an option since I''m planning on getting a very full ball gown, but I''m perplexed about the sitting issue.

I just had multiple images from tv clips of weddings gone wrong. I am picturing women not able to fit into the limo and/or sitting and having the hoop fly up and flash everyone.

My vote? Put more than one crinoline under your dress to make it poofy.

I had a full ball gown (I''ll post the pictures if and when I ever get them

) and I am not going to lie. Sitting was a bit tricky. I basically sat near the edge of the seat and gathered the skirt to one side. Worked fine for me. (Besides you don''t really do a whole lot of sitting)

Did you have a really full crinoline or a hoop skirt?

The same thing is going through my head too Munchkin, but all of the fullest crinolines that I''ve tried on at the stores I''ve been to don''t give the shape I want. They make it full at the bottom which gives it more of a very full A-line feel rather than a ballgown (my opinion at least)

I had a very large ball gown wedding dress and wore a hoop under it and it was one of the best things I did. Not only did it give the full, even look I wanted, it was extremely comfortable. It was light weight and very cool. I liked not having layers of crinoline around my legs( I guess this is why they were so popular in the south).

It was very easy to sit on because the hoops are thin bendable plastic. When walking through small doorways you kinda have to push the hoops in to fit through, but they pop right back into shape. I borrowed the hoop from my SIL and once I put it on I knew I could not go back to a petty coat. Try and find one that is gently used and cheap and see if you like it.

The only draw back is that if you FI wants to flip up your dress in a dramatic fashion to retieve your garter, do be careful to keep your hands on your thighs to prevent your "goods" being shown to all of your guests

The pic bellow is from my wedding and I think this is the only pic of me in a chair, I did not have any problems sitting. Personally, I would think it would be harder to sit on a long bustled train.

Full crinoline. It has a fabric liner so it wasn''t itchy. Did you try two on?

suggest you get one from the civil war re-enactors that is made with hoop steel instead of the cheap plastic. the hoop steel bends and moves with you and doesn''t flip.

they take practice and managing. wear it around the house for a few evenings, you''lll get the idea.

also corset and hoop skirt, to our modern bodies, feel weird and take practice because corsets and stays and hoops require posture.

I wore a hoop skirt with my full ball gown and had no trouble sitting. I agree with one of the previous poster that it was way better than layers and layers of crinoline that make you hot. The hoop skirt made it easy to walk too. My dress had some crinoline built in so the hoop worked well with what the dress already had for a great shape.

I think when I first got the hoop, I did have to do some bending to get it into the correct shape since it was shipped in a very small package. After that though it was fine.
