Has anyone purchased a semi mount/setting from DazzlingRock?

Hi Everyone,

I will be purchasing a loose Sapphire and Tsavorite from Gemfix when they are back from the Tucson gem show, and am looking for reasonably priced white gold with diamond accents semi-mounts. I found a seller on amazon.com called "DazzlingRock" that has quite a few at reasonable prices, but I wasn't able to find any reference to them here. When I googled them, they also have a regular website, but I think I would rather purchase from them through amazon.com because there might be some added buyer protection there.

Has anyone here purchased anything from them or heard anything about them?

Here are a few of the settings I was looking at:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DOCH7BG/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_7?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1K811GDDCKMWQ

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DJCXL5C/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_10?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1K811GDDCKMWQ

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C6DYKMI/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1K811GDDCKMWQ

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CDBNPUQ/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1K811GDDCKMWQ

I don't think there would be any risk to ordering one to see what it looks like in person. I have returned lots to amazon.com over the years, but if anyone has a opinion on them first, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Re: Has anyone purchased a semi mount/setting from DazzlingR

I am not familiar with this vendor and thus have not ordered anything from them. My only concern is whether the diamond melees are white and clean enough to the naked eye since the clarity grading is I1/I2. In looking at the total gram weight of the settings and actual pictures (only the first picture is the actual setting, the rest are CAD renditions), they remind me very much of the eBay Chinese made settings.

I have not purchased from them either. I would ask them the weight of the gold they are using, and ask if the diamonds they are using are at least eye clean.

Pave is very delicate, and may not be the best choice if you plan to wear it everyday and have an active lifestyle. I have kids now and won't wear pave daily. Also, pave has to be executed very well to withstand wear, and I am not sure this setting is going to have the quality you want in an engagement ring. You can do searches for here for what experiences other people have had with pave in lower cost settings from LOGR and Jewelryhoo. I think these pave settings are better for occasional wear.

Thanks for the replies Chrono and Pregcurious!
I did end up placing a order with that vendor after all, but not for a semi-mount. I have been wanting small a sapphire and diamond band, and they had one for a little over $200, so I thought I would order it and see how it looked. I choose one day shipping and it arrived today - and will be going back tomorrow. It is probably worth the $200 I spent on it, but the diamonds and sapphires were both much darker than I prefer. It had good reviews from others who purchased it though, but I doubt any of them were from Pricescope :)) .

I'm sorry the ring wasn't what you wanted but appreciate the review.

Thank you for asking about this vendor, and so quickly following up with your first hand experience. It is immeasurably helpful to other PSers. Of course, we'd love to see pics of any tsavorites or sapphires you might be purchasing from Gemfix. :praise:

Hi Everyone,
I decided to take a quick pic of the sapphire and diamond band that I purchased and am sending back to post here. My photography skills aren't the best, but hopefully it will help give you a better idea of what this vendor has to offer.

I will be back for all of your great advice when I am ready to make my Gemfix purchase.
