Alright, FI and I are in the midst of a HEATED battle.

Ok, well, not heated. And not really a battle...

BUT I wanted to know your thoughts...

We picked up FI''s wedding band last night. We are getting married on September 1.

Last night, after we got home, I wanted him to model it for me! Just see what it looked like on his hand and stuff.

It is a super simple white gold band.

But he refused! I told him I wanted to get used to it. He told me I''d have the rest of my life to get used to it.

I said SHUDDUP AND PUT IT ON. He refused again.

I JUST WANTED TO SEE THE BAND ON HIS FINGER FOR A COUPLE MINUTES.

So, who do you think is right?

Well I have the opposite problem (well, I think it's cute, not really a problem) but my FI won't take it off!!! He wears it around EVERYWHERE he can where he think he won't bump into anyone he knows. He doesn't want anyone to think he's weird, but I know the truth!

Is your fi superstitious about it? I don't really think it's a big deal either way as long as he will actually wear it once you're married. Some guys are weird about that stuff...I would just let it go if I were you, he's probably having fun teasing you about it.

Has he tried it on at all to see if it fits? Perhaps that could be your ploy? Of course, it does sound like he''s just having fun w/ the power trip. Will he see you in your wedding dress before the big day? I know it''s hard, but I would say let him have his fun.

Neatfreak - I don''t think he''s superstitious, I think he just being a fool. Teasing me, just like you said. And he does plan on wearing it once we are married...he''s just a brat, really.

Lady - He''s seen my dress. We are quite the non-traditional couple. Bought a house together three and a half years ago, etc. He''s just being a dork.

I suppose I will just let him have his fun.

Darn Dutchman. Like I said to him last night, I feel really bad for the woman that is going to marry him!

FH and I have (several times, mind you) turned on one of our favorite TV shows, poured two glasses of wine and snuggled on the couch wearing our wedding rings. It's always me that brings up the idea, but he always goes for it.

Oh Lysser!!! I forgot you''re hitchin on Sept 1st --- someone I know *cough/me* is turning 30 *cough/40* that day too. At least one of us will be having a good time

On the ring front -- yeah .. DH did the same thing to me. I think he caved a FEW days later though -- so don''t give up. Tell him you have to make sure it fits so you won''t look foolish jamming it on his finger up at the alter. And then INSIST on witnessing this "try on". Or, maybe just ask him to try it on THE OTHER HAND & then use your imagination.

BTW ... we had a silly fight this weekend too. I''m still deciding whether to make a thread about it because I fear I''m the one who is gonna look foolish/bratty/mean if I lay out all the "evidence" :SIGH:

Neatfreak, that''s just like my FI! Both the saleswoman and I had to put the fear of god into him that NO, he cannot wear his wedding band before the wedding just because he loves it. We told him it was bad luck! Sunday night he asked me coyly, "ummm, do you think it''s okay if I wear my wedding band just for tonight?" and I said, "No! It''s too close to the wedding now to do that. Bad luck."

He looked sad but said "ok, I understand." It''s sort of cute. I had no idea he''d even want to wear a ring, let alone be so into it...

As for the OP, dont push it. It''s not a big deal and its sort of sweet that he wants to wait til you''re married...

My FI tried his on at the store and wore it for a minute or two but we left the rings at my mom''s house, so he hasn''t put it back on. At least I have the image in my head of him wearing it!!!

I say you really HAVE to test the fit!!! Does his finger swell after a couple of minutes?? That sort of thing.

Other than to try it on once it came in, no. I wanted the ring engraved, and it''s a suprise for him what the engraving says. So, the jeweler had him try it on, then we snuck off so I could write out the engraving message without FI seeing it or hearing us talk about it. :) He doesn''t get to see his ring again until the day we get married.

Same here - my fiance tried his on at the jewelers for sizing, etc. and then once when the rings finally came in. However, we engraved each other''s rings and it will be a surprise for the wedding day so, neither of us have tried on the rings since they were engraved.

Deco - HE TOTALLY CAVED TODAY!

I got to see him in the ring very briefly!

Today is my bday and he didn''t have time to buy me a card - already bought me a faboo purse but no card...so I think he felt a bit bad and he came downstairs and offered me a piece of butterscotch candy and he was wearing the ring!

Boys are silly.

Anyway, September 1 is totally going to be a big day!

OK Deco, now you gotta tell...

LL, TGuy did not wear the ring in front of me before we got married. He did try it on but wouldn''t let me see that for some reason. I did get to see the ring on his RIGHT hand, but oddly, never his left. Once he tried it on to make sure it fit, he didn''t put it on his left again. I don''t think it was any kind of superstition for him, but he just wanted to wait until he was married to wear it.

He didn''t see my dress either before I came down the aisle...so I guess we''re both kind of funny that way. TGuy also would not let us cut the cake all the way to the bottom...bad luck according to Aussies. The photographer kept asking us to cut a piece and all the Aussies yelled "No NO! You don''t all the way to the bottom!" So that was his big superstition of the day.

I got my husband a "practice" ring a few months before our wedding so he could get used to wearing a ring. He never wore his actual wedding band until the day we were married.
