Ok, ive got a hard choice to make, having to choose one of these rings to sell due to unexpected vet bills, and unfortunately have not other choice. I love them both but not sure! What would you choose to keep & let go?

First ones platinum with old diamonds, had it in family for as long as I can remember, the other is 18k white gold.

Hi, @Isobel ! I’m so sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope your precious little family member is doing well.
With regard to which ring, I would choose to keep the platinum ring. As I’m a very sentimental person, I’d be reluctant to let of an heirloom.

I'm sorry you are in this situation. And more importantly I hope your fur baby is okay. I absolutely love my chocolate lab and stutter at the thought of her being hurt. I would be the guy to go all John Wick on you for hurting her, lol.

Have you talked with your vet to see if they will do a payment plan? I know a few vets and while they don't advertise this, they will do so in unique circumstances. It may be worth an ask.

Other alternatives might include taking some extra hours at work, or possibly picking up a 2nd job. Uber, Lyft and food delivery services like DoorDash and PostMates might be some hassle free options.

Your finances are none of my business. I only mention this stuff because when I am jammed up and feel like all my choices are bad, then I look for an option B, C, D or whatever letter.

If you have to choose, I would suggest you hang onto the family heirloom.

It's for this big pup, caesar.
Hes priceless in my eyes even if it's to give up my precious jewellery.

He is beautiful!! My dogs are priceless too, and I would sell everything I own if I had to for them. I hope he is ok!

I'd keep the family heirloom. I'd also suggest asking your vet for a payment plan as others have said. You never know!

Just a suggestion but you could open a Care Credit card which will allow 6-12 months to pay off the balance interest free. The length of time depends on the agreement with your veterinarian.

I would keep the heirloom and sell the other.

I'm so sorry you have to make this kind of decision. Pets are part of the family; unfortunately, caring for our fur babies doesn't come cheap, does it? I think if I HAD to choose, I would choose to sell #2. It's less sentimental, and the design may appeal to more folks (e.g., someone may want to buy the ring just for the stones to reuse for another project?). Also, if you ever want to replace/replicate the #2, I feel it'd be a bit easier to do? I hope it doesn't come down to that though and you're able to keep both pieces and cover vet costs at the same time.

I’m so sorry you are going through this right now. Massive love and best wishes for your gorgeous pup.

I would keep the family heirloom with its history if you need to make a choice.

Thinking about you and your family, and hope there are bright days ahead.

@Isobel im sorry to hear your pup was unwell
i hope he is making a good recovery
my kitty Tibby recently got sick very fast and he had to go to the vet (unfortunatly as young as he was there was only one heart breaking descion to make)
I was absolutly flat broke but i remembered i had a CC tucked away that has a long interest free period (then they sting you where it hurts) and i used that

also could you possibly get a little personal loan from your bank ?

I would keep the family heirloom
Like your pup its family and can't be replaced
