After work on Tuesday, my “boyfriend” greeted me with a dozen red roses. To celebrate our 1 year anniversary, he suggested we go where we first met. As we had done a year ago to the day, we got coffee at the original starbucks and walked down to the waterfront to a roof top which has a 365 degree view of Seattle. The sunset was simply beautiful. Todd was playing with his new camera and we were enjoying the view. After we sat down on a bench, he asked me to get a battery out of his camera bag which I thought wa little strange as it was a new camera. Instead of a battery, I found a beautiful cherry wood box! I looked at him shocked and excited and at a loss for words. He said some sweet things and got on his knee and asked me to marry him. I don’t exactly remember what he said or if I opened the box first or what - it was all surreal. I do know I said yes and was so excited to open that box. Inside the box was the most beautiful ring – a gorgeous diamond on a simple platinum setting. I’ve never seen anything so sparkly and pretty or felt so delightful and special and content inside. He also read me a wonderful poem that was very symbolic of our relationship. Our perfect evening continued on at the same next stop we had had a year prior: a lovely restaurant where we had a yummy dinner.
He had the ring for a month and had just looked at it in his house’s lighting. It’s totally true what y’all say. There is nothing like a well cut diamond. This Ideal cut 1.6 Round Brilliant stone (don’t yet know the other specs) looks amazing in different light and from different angles. From sunset light to fancy restaurant light to a bit of shadow to bright direct light. I excused myself 3 times to use the lieu at dinner, mostly because I wanted to walk in front of the mirror in the bathroom and see the ring on my hand!
After dinner, he suggested we go and see my mom. We then went home and went off to bed. I awoke pretty quickly in the morning and turned on the light to see it again. I can’t stop staring at my hand and telling everyone about our engagement. This last 48 hours has been surreal and beyond my wildest dreams. Although he says he doesn’t feel an intense difference now being officially engaged as he’s always known we’d be together, there is something about being asked the question and wearing a ring that changes things. I am so happy and peaceful and deeply in love
Can’t concentrate on much of anything other than my fiancé, our future, our ring. Below is a picture from my “busy day at work” today. We are off to Vegas tomorrow for the weekend – a trip we had planned a while back. Tee hee….
More pics and posts to come.
