Husband: what are you looking at?
Me: Nothing
Husband: You’re looking at jewelry and stones. You just bought a stone.
Me: Well I really bought 3 (single stone and a pair) and was given a stone by Mom
Husband: Why do you need more? What are you going to do with them?
Me:  Poor guy, he has no idea.

Heeheehee!

He'll learn.

 I think your DH is just like mine. Mine says, with a straight face and completely believes it, "all diamonds look the same".

You're right--- they just do NOT get it! Thank heavens for our PS support group :wink2:

You need them to:
Make a full set of earrings, pendant, ring, brooch, bracelet, crown, scepter, etc.
Match your various outfits
Match your moods.

it isn't even a matter of "need".......I "want" it and that is all there is to it.
hubs may shake his head but that is just the way it is.....'cause otherwise he'd get a lot of grief from me re all the geek toys [latest is a robot that paints that he got off of kickstart].

Well before PS I thought all diamonds looked alike too. :o
I wanted to upgrade my engagement ring after over 25 years. Found PS. Found what I liked after looking at every single ring. Upgraded my setting. In hindsight I should have upgraded my diamond to at least the same size but a much better cut. Maybe next year. But since my new setting I have received nothing but compliments and no one knows my diamond is a mutt except me. Then I found colored stones. Now my poor old mutt diamond looks pathetic next to all those pretty shiny gemstones. Poor husband doesn't stand a chance.
First projects though are going to be jewelry with gemstones representing my children s birthstones. Have the garnet and aquamarine. Need a ruby and alexandrite but it might take me a while.I figure I will do 1 piece at a time. I keep getting distracted by spinels and sapphires and tourmalines.
I like the idea of a scepter.

Tiara, tiara, tiara! Need a tiara!

"How many of those things do you neeeeed??" is heard every time a stone arrives at my house. My answer: "I'll tell ya when I have enough."

I can absolutely relate. I have that conversation with my boyfriend all the time. What are you looking at? DIAMONDS?

Teach him the word parure.

Does he collect anything? It's the same thing.

Hahahahaha--my friends and SO know better than to ask by now! :cheeky:

They really do all match my moods! Just get him into them too and watch videos of all the work that goes into getting these gems. I tell my hubby it is still my rock collection, it is just portable now!

My hubby doesn't understand how much time I spend LOOKING at jewellery. He doesn't begrudge me the "have to have" pieces, within reason haha ( it's a tight tolerance!) but doesn't understand the holy grail searching!

My husband is starting to understand. He knows it is important to Collect All the Colors, and to Have At Least One of Every Kind.

So my husband asked what I wanted for our one-year anniversary, and I showed him a channel-set french-cut eternity, and he goes, "Isn't that just what your wedding ring looks like?" EXCUSE ME, my wedding ring is a three-sided brightcut pave half-eternity they are TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Sigh. The things I have to deal with.

... it doesn't come pre-painted? It's like a model kit? ??????? I prefer my toys already painted AND assembled, thankyouverymuch.

Love all the replies. Have to remember for the next time he asks.
I'm just looking at stones for my tiara. I mean what is he going to say to that?
And no he collects nothing. No tech toys, golf clubs, cars. He really isn't in to any "stuff".
But I did promise him a really nice vacation after I got my reset. Planning is in the works.

You can always go the holistic/earth mother approach, explaining that each crystal is different, and each has protective and/or healing qualities; that there really is no substituting, and that you really need multiples of each to protect you and your whole family. And you can tell him that in fact, you find, they ground you and give you energy, and that actually, now that you stop and think about it, you are a far better person/wife/friend/ for having them - and just think about how much better you can become if you continue to collect them and be in contact with such lovely energy and healing powers... :Up_to_something:

My FI proposed without a ring. At the time he said that we should go pick out rings together. Turns out he just meant the wedding bands! When I asked him later about an ering, he said, "Oh, I didn't realize you wanted an ering, I thought it was the wedding ring"... :knockout: In the end I chose / designed my own ering and FI and I split the cost (even though he offered to pay for it all).

Funny thing is, when we bought our platinum wedding bands (from a Japanese wedding jewelry store called I-Primo) they had a promotion where they gave you a hidden diamond inside for free. I chose the pink FCD while FI chose a blue FCD. So he ended up getting a little bling too. :)

distracts, it is a robot that you put a picture in front of it and it will paint that picture. or so I'm told.
