Happy new week all!
I wanted to discuss expectations today and the standards we impose on ourselves. It is possible to be too hard on ourselves but if you cut yourself too much slack then you won't get the results you want.
Example of cutting yourself some slack....
1)" I wish I hadn't eaten that huge slice of cake....
But I don't expect perfection and occasionally I can eat some of the high calorie foods I like as my healthier lifestyle allows for that. I eat carefully and workout regularly so in the overall scheme of things eating this cake won't sabotage all my hard work."

2) "I wish I hadn't eaten that huge slice of cake....
But....losing weight and trying to get fit, this whole thing is a waste of time. I will never lose the weight, I have been SO GOOD for two weeks and I have only lost five pounds
.....I don't know why I bother or even care - in fact I don't care! I will never be able to lose weight and get healthy at my age/ time of life/ in my situation/......." and so the cycle continues.
I am sure the second scenario is familiar to many of us! So getting the balance right between having reasonable expectations of yourself and standards which are either too strict or not strict enough that you give up altogether is essential.
If you want cake, eat it and enjoy it. If it goes over your calorie allowance - big deal. Just continue on your path and eat well and exercise, the cake won't make any difference in the long run. Remember it is the choices you make consistently over the next few weeks, months and years that will help you achieve your goals!
Have a great week
