One last diamond for my right hand ring collection will be a heart cut stone, and I have been trawling the internet for shapes etc., and decided I would like a wide heart with a deep cleft, like this earth-mined 0.9ct I SI1.

It is not everyone's cup of tea, however, its shape pleases me the most out of the 5 stones showed up with my search criteria.

Just need to wait until I have finished paying off the big blue-green Tourmaline.

Hopefully, this stone will still be available when I am ready to make a purchase, most likely to be towards the end of Q2 next year; otherwise I shall start again with my search.

Hi @dk168 ...are there any videos of this stone?

Edit...are you interested in any input on the stone or you've made up your mind?

I have a soft spot for heart shape stones. I found a champagne one that's just over a carat and adore it. It took me a while to find it and it was through this very random online jeweler that I had never heard of before, but it all went very smoothly and they were very nice to work with. The ring ended up being a holiday gift from my husband I think last year. I have similar preferences to you - nice and wide with the deep cleft to really capture that heart shape. Everyone once in a while Alex Parks has heart stones, and JewelsbyWhitney on IG. I'm not sure what your range or budget is, but in case this one gets snatched up, there are other potential vendors. Hope it's still available when you're ready!

@dk168 Ditto @tyty333. But since this is RT and since you haven't purchased yet - I'm going to be more blunt and say that I like you and I want a nicer stone for you.

The grey part around the center of the table, that looks kind of "mushy", that's going to show as "musy" in-person as well - you won't be getting the crisp, bright, flashy scintillation from this stone as other options could give you.

Just throwing some alternatives out. These might not be exactly the shape you want though, or the pricepoint you want to hit - if you tell me what you don't like I'd be happy to search for alternatives. I looked for a deeper cleft, evenly-sized and evenly-contrasty virtual faceting throughout the face-up, and a bright under-table. **Edit - some aren't as wide as you probably want, actually, re-reading the OP.

Thanks for the advice and searches, I like the look of the third one, the G SI1 and it is within my loose budget which is no more than 3k GBP!

This is a great point and I think the other options you found are great!

DK, mine is much, much warmer than what you’re looking for, but here’s David’s video of my finished ring. The specs are somewhere in this forum if you search my posts from 2020.

Nice ring, however, it would disappear on my chubby finger and hand!

It is going to be another simple wide band or Gypsy set, in a setting that emphasize the cleft and the curves, something like this - not to scale and the heart is not as wide as I would like it to be, and the band can bewilder at 5mm at the top.

HI:

Keep your eye out for an Astor Ideal from BN. Might not have as much cleavage as you desire, but I bet the sparkle would be fabu! I adore hearts and can't wait to see what you end up with.

cheers--Sharon

I just checked their Astor Ideal and am not keen on their shapes, in that they are not wide with deep clefts.

I appreciate that @yssie delicately stated (and @tyty333 hinted to) what I was thinking. I understand that you want a chubby heart (I like them a tad wide myself), but remember that the greater the ratio, the less likely you will have a proper cut. And I know you want max brilliance. My heart has a .90 ratio and I was advised that is the max you should stray from 1:1 with a heart (or to 1.10 if you like a more narrow shape). Anyway, listen to yssie... she can save you a lot of aggravation and disappointment. I know from whence I speak!!
