Has anyone else gotten a phone call from these people? Do you know if it's legit?

I got a call from Heart of America's Bridal Department saying my FI and I had either registered ourselves or that a friend or family member registered us, and that we had won a free 3 day 2 night trip....all we had to do was go to one of their "conferences" and look at things we could register for, but with no obligation to buy.

???

ETA: I know it's probably naive to wonder if this is for real, I mostly just wanted to see if anyone else has gotten a call from these folks or anyone similar. And I tried to Google it, couldn't come up with anything. Oh, and they called my cell phone and knew my name was Annie, so....??? I did go to a Bridal Extravaganza almost a year ago...maybe that's where they got it?

i have gotten several calls like these. They usually want you to attend some program where they will try to sell you something, and you get like two or three nights in a hotel, you pay your own airfare. You aren''t actually WINNING, because they just call everyone on thier list (usually from bridal shows, or sometimes if you signed up for somethig online).
Some of the calls I get, they tell me I registered with them at the Bridal Show in Philadelphia. I definitely live in Buffalo, and have never been to philadelphia..

Yeah, I think I just answered my own question...

I couldn't find anything online about "Heart of America" bridal department, but I did find this, and the seminar, according to the girl who called me, would have been so we could see their cookware, cook on it, etc. She didn't say it was "Royal Prestige" cookware, like in the link above, but I bet you money it is.....

ETA: i finally found something online because I changed my google search to "bridal scam"...hehe

Ya know, the more I think about this, the angrier I get. I mean, yeah, I guess I gave my number out when I registered at the Bridal Extravaganza, so technically it''s my fault, but I''m NOT OK with these people calling my cell phone! I''m not going to any more extravangazas!

HMG, it''s funny that you mention this. I was supposed to attend the Great Bridal Expo here in NYC about a month ago. I ended up not going and ever since then, I keep receiving emails and voicemails from vendors telling me how great it was to meet me at the expo, blah, blah, sales pitch, etc etc. Really annoying. I wasn''t even there!!!!

David''s Bridal sold or gave my name and number to these people, along with a bunch of other vendors. And they call my cell phone at all hours and even weekends. I once got a call from one vendor at 9PM on a Sunday!!

And the messages they leave are like five minutes long!!! ARGH!!!

I got one of these phone calls as well. Davids BRidal must have given it to them.. because at that time I had not been anywhere else. They even knew the name of my then FI. They told me I had to being my FI and that I was under no obligation to buy. I asked if I could bring a lawyer with me and she hung up.

LOL

OMG.. I just got off the phone with these people!! I told the lady that people are starting to catch on to the scam and that she should check out her ''company'' on royal prestige consumer affairs!!

The nerve!!

Grrrrrrr.....Mine, I''m sorry you had to deal with them again! If another one calls me, I might just have to tell them that everyone is on to them and I don''t want their crummy cookware anyway!
