Ok well it seems NO ONE likes the heart shape judging from a post in RockyTalk! Made me think of a story and I didn''t want to hijack that thread. My ex boyfriend a couple of years ago gave me HEART everything. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, paperweights. One day I asked him why he ALWAYS gave me heart stuff.. he said "whenever I see them I think of you"... I think I threw up a little in my mouth at that moment..... It was the JOKE between my friends that he would someday propose with a heart shaped diamond hidden in a heart shape box of chocolates on Valentines day... We broke up that January! LMAO!

Oddly enough we keep in contact now and then..He''s got a girlfriend that he''s rather serious about. She reminds him of "Marquise" shapes!!!!

Lucky the large chested woman who reminds him of "cushions" hehehehe

BTW It isn''t that I dislike hearts so much as for my one and only? Some women like that but not a lot... best know for sure!!

i like the heart shape it is just awkward (to me) on a ring. i think a beautiful ring would be an oval or marquis with two hearts on the side. or the great big two carat solitaire in the Sams near my house-- now THAT i would wear

or as a pendant.

I also have nothing against heart shaped diamonds, just not in a ring (for me.) My best friend wants to propose with a heart shaped diamond when the time comes. I don''t know why, he just wants to. It can be cute I think. =)

What I''m wondering is how does the current girlfriend remind your ex of marquises?????

DH bought me a beautiful heart shaped diamond pendant years ago while we were on holiday. It''s a beautifully shaped stone just under a carat. My intent was to have it set in a ring, but I could never find a design that I loved so it has remained in the safe awaiting inspiration. Now that I see so many beautiful halo settings, maybe it''s time...

I have seen them set into pendants and think they are really pretty. But in a ring, just doesn''t do it for me.

heart diamonds to me are a little cheesy. they remind me of the $199 macys specials that i used to see in the mailers all the time so i guess i just can't get past that memory. plus it doesn't help that most heart shaped diamonds are just not well cut...and they have to be HUGE to really be visible that it's a heart and not some blob.

but we did see an amazing huge diamond heart (3-4c?) in a pave halo the other day at JE on a pendant. not that i'd ever buy anything like that, but if someone threw it at me, okay i'd take it.

Last year Martha Stewart came out with a wedding issue and there were a bunch of rings on the cover with a Tiffany blue background. anyway, there were all the shapes, a few Tiffany rings, Harry Winston, a Daniel K cushion or asscher and a big ol'' Tiffany Heart shaped solitare. My 4 year old loves to look at all the rings and you know which one is her favorite???? you''re right, that big heart. so, although "cute" not something I''d consider classic or really want past elementary school.

That's exactly the reason hearts are not my choice cut...especially in a ring. =)

My friend's mom has a heart cut ering...and after knowing her about 21 years now, I never knew until my mom told me one day during h.s. 'Oh yeah her engagement ring is a heart shape.' The next time I saw her I took a closer look, and barely made out the fact that it was indeed a heart.

My 13 year old wants a heart shaped diamond-NOW. I was thinking of getting her a tiny one for Valentines day-She''s dying for REAL diamonds! I did actually see a princess cut w/ side hearts that I didnt'' hate, but like I said before, Hearts will FOREVER remind me of my EX.. so I just can''t do it!

I don''t know... I wouldn''t want a heart shape for a ring. But a single heart shaped diamond pendant (one stone, not one with tons of stuff going on) might be pretty if done in a clean Peretti setting.

Hmmm, how pretty would a single marquise be on a thin platinum chain? No bail, invisible setting. That would be very pretty, and I''m not a marquise person!

Maybe you can get one of those 3 stone diamond pendants made to look like a heart? In your mind, it would be 3 rounds so you wouldn''t have to think of the ex!!!

its funny, since I''ve been here I''ve found something to like in every stone shape.... I really didn''t like several before and now I like them all LOL I practically HATED marquise shape prior to PS and now there are SEVERAL ways I''d enjoy and love to wear one... I might even consider a solitare ring if it was a particularly fat one :D

Cehrabehra, me too!

I used to only love rounds, emerald cuts & asschers. That''s grown to include pears, princesses and every other cut on the planet. I think it''s seeing the gorgeous rings on PS. If set well, a great diamond will be breathtaking. I want them all!

Ugh.. I HATE hearts anything... I really think they are too cute and childish looking. I hate heart pendants, rings, charms, earrings, ugh ugh ugh... I even have aversions to cards cut out like hearts... UGH!!

My XBF (who was a jerk for a ton of reasons) bought me this heart pendant for Christmas. It had little bag. in it, was yellow gold and ... ok. But he thought this was the greatest gift. He told me to "get used to it, cause this is the nice kind of jewelry that he planned on buying me for all time...
20.gif
He said that it reminded him of me as soon as he saw it. Well, you have to understand my X was a cheap butt .... OK.. breath... anyway... he was liar too and told me how he had searched high and low for it and had bought it a long time ago.. HA!!!! I found the gift reciept, he had bought it that morning. BHut BEFORE that... I had looked at the logo inside the box and went to the website... SERVICE MERCHANDISE and found out he paid a whoppin 19.99 for it. 10K gold and diamonds.. hey, he even got a free porcilen box with it... ( but he mother got that). (This man was a very wealthy man, mind you). So I sore that I would NEVER NEVER get crap again.... And I think that just added to my aversion to hearts....

I agree with Mara that I would not turn down something stunning like she mentioned though.
