DH managed to misplace his wedding band about four months after the wedding

and it still hasn't turned up. He felt pretty bad about it, but has another band that means a lot to both of us, so was wearing it as his w-band. I decided that I'd replace the missing one as a surprise (it's our 7 month anni. tomorrow, but that's kind of coincidental to my decision). It came today, so I opened the box and walked over to him with the ring. I took his hand, and said "J, will you marry me?" We laughed, and he hugged me and said yes. Then he told me "I'm getting all vehrklempt!" and was kind of sniffly. Awww...it's kind of fun to be on the other end of the proposal this time around!

Here's a picture of the bands. The one on the top right is the titanium and 18k band he lost and I replaced, and the silver woven one is handmade, and was what he wore as a replacement the past few months.

Awww! That's very sweet!

Both of those bands are really cool!

Such a cute idea!

My HH is on wedding band number 3 (we've been married 9 years) because he keeps losing them in stupid ways. Maybe next time (and I'm sure there WILL be a next time, LOL) I'll steal your idea and "propose" to him!

That''s so sweet!!! And I''m glad that''s the one he lost and not the handmade one! So great that you replaced it!

I''m sure M is going to lose his soon... he''s been putting it in all sorts of places. And he always takes it off and puts it in his pocket when he washes his hand and I know he''s going to forget it sometime and wash it or something. I think it''s hard on men to keep up with jewelry when they aren''t used to wearing it. Hoping J holds onto this one for a while longer this time!

Nice job, Selkie! So sweet. I''m glad that you were so pleased to be able to do it for him and that he was so happy to receive it.

too cool, Selkie! I may have to borrow your idea!

DH lost about 25lbs last year, so now his band is too loose. Not to mention that it got super-scratchy (it''s titanium), so a new one is in order.

Does that mean that I also get a new piece of jewelery too?

Thanks, everyone! It was such a cute moment. I was thinking about pretending I had found the missing one, but then thought it would be much more amusing to "propose" with it. I''m worried he''ll lose this one too-he takes it off daily for work, and although he says he has a safe spot where he puts it, clearly that didn''t work out too well last time. It''s also loose on his finger, but he insists a size smaller won''t fit over his knuckle. I''m glad it wasn''t super expensive at least!

Dee*Jay, I swear EVERYONE I''ve told has a story about their husband losing his ring in some odd way. Boys.
Sum, maybe if you tell M about J losing his already, he''ll be a little more careful?

ChargerGrrl, I like your thinking, girl!

That''s great Selkie! Happy anniversary, by the way.

I think thats really cute! My hubby said he is going to propose to me again. We are going to renew our vows and he didn''t do the whole proposal thing the first time!

And, I choose Cake! My son keeps asking me that all the time!!

I did. He said "See? I AM being careful because I haven''t lost it." I muttered "yet" under my breath!

Hi everyone, I''m new around here and a little hesitant to jump into conversations but this one made me smile.

About a week after our wedding I found my husband''s wedding band between the cushions of our couch. Since I''d been trying to get him to not put his band in his pocket when he washed his hands, cooked (guess I should just be happy he cooks
1.gif
, etc. because I was afraid he''d lose it I decided to just leave the ring where it was until he noticed it was missing.... ok I actually pushed it further between the cushions so he wouldn''t be able to see it (I know that''s mean... I can only imagine the type of mother I may someday be). Anyway.... a couple of days passed with me pretending I didn''t notice he wasn''t wearing his ring when finally the guilt overcame him and he confessed that he had already lost his ring and I could see that he truly felt terrible so I offered to help him look for it. I "found" it in the couch and made him promise to not put it in is pocket anymore.... so he found a "safer" place for it when he''s not wearing it..... his key ring (because no one ever loses their keys

)

Our one year anniversary is in a little over a week (March 10) and so far the ring has made it at least this far.... it''s pretty scratched up though... maybe he''ll "lose" it again so I can take it in for a polish

Funny story, Applequeen! The key ring idea is pretty good. How does he attach it, with a clip? I think men probably are far more prone to losing their wedding rings, like Sumbride said, because they''re not used to wearing jewelry all the time.

Sum: Heh, well now he can't sat you didn't warn him

He has a clip that he attaches it to. I guess it is a pretty good idea for when he''s at the gym or something like that and he does always know where it is. He''s actually done very well with his ring considering that before we were married he said he didn''t want to wear one

I''ve often wondered what he would think of me keeping my rings on my key ring

My DH is ALSO on his 3rd band...lost his original (which later turned up in the bottom of his recliner), then went through two other plain WG bands...I don''t really worry about his (is that bad?!), I''ve never lost mine and in my little world that is all that matters, lol!

Hehe, Selkie - I must admit, the title drew me in here.

Happy belated anniversary - and your hubby''s new/replacement ring is too cool!

Yeah, I think I'd be a lot more upset (and so would he) if it was MY ring(s) that had gone missing, given that my set is worth, oh, 25X what we paid for his!

Thanks, Lauren. DH works on boats, repairing their rigging, so he was all over the titanium cable rings when he saw them.

Awww thats so sweet :)

The bands are way cool I really like the designs :)
