Hi guys, on buying a diamond from Whiteflash, do you normally advise what height you want the diamond at, or do they decide that? Should the diamond be set higher or lower, and is there a guide for that?

You should reach out and specify how you want the mounting height.

Which setting are you looking at? Perhaps that would help us suggest….

I'm looking for either a plain knife-edge ring with 6 prongs, or a pave ring with 6 prongs. both with gallery bars

Definitely ask your SA! With 6 prongs, I don’t know why you’d need the gallery bars, unless you want them. Have you looked at the Vatche U-113? That gets a lot of traction on here, just fyi.

It also depends on how comfortable you are with the stone being set high. I like it being set higher but many do not like it for daily wear because it snags, bangs against things... that is primarily a matter of comfort.

Setting height is a personal choice/preference, each to their own, IMHO.

Therefore, decide for yourself based on your own preferences.

I would suggest going to a mall/high street jewellery store and try on rings in different height settings to determine which one you prefer.

I prefer mine to be set as low as possible, that's just me.

DK :))

Thank you both! I assumed it had to do with light/brilliance, but sounds like its more of a comfort preference and look. Appreciate it!
