Ok, I would like to show everyone the result of 3 months of work to reset my .24ct heirloom OEC into a pendant, but I''m not sure if I can post it. I have a pearl that dangles from the bezel set diamond, but since there are certain rules against pearls I''m not sure if it goes against those?

Anyone?? Should it go in the Jewelry forum instead?

Ok, I''m going to post specs on the diamond and a few photos... if the thread should be deleted or moved, please feel free to do so and I won''t be offended.

The diamond was originally in a ring (and I''m ashamed to say that for some reason I can''t find pics of the ring!)... it belonged to my great aunt and was obtained after she passed away. The story is kinda funny because my great aunt had no children so her nieces and nephews (of them, my mom) inherited all of her belongings. My selfish and greedy uncle went through all of the jewelry and took everything of value before the other siblings could, leaving nothing but costume jewelry. My mom brought the items home and when we were going through it - we found this beautiful gem of a ring. It was a bit tattered, but it finally has the chance to shine in its new setting inspired by Skippy''s bezel pendant (

Specs on the diamond are as follows:

.24ct OEC
E VVS1

It''s a beautiful stone and am very excited to have it recycled into something grand!

So, without further delay.... the pics:

That is marvelous - gorgeous, and so very elegant! It's lovely that you have something so beautiful to remember your great-aunt by. And I second JS's call for neck shots!

ETA: We cross-posted ... oh, that is just beautiful on you!

It looks amazing on you. Congrats!

js - have you decided on what to do with your pendant situation???

Oh wow, what an original idea! Love, love the necklace! Beautiful job re-setting!

The bezel set diamond is so nice and dainty, while the pearl is massive! I used to have a pair of white pearl earrings of similar proportions only much smaller in scale (I think the diamond was only around 5 points), and I wore them all the time until I lost one. It''s sweet that you have a pendant with ties to your late Aunt.

Gorgeous! It looks perfect with the pearl!!!

You created a beautiful timeless piece. I absolutely love it. Great tahitian too!

Not quite there yet! Still debating things. I am the most indecisive person alive.

Thanks everyone - I''m really pleased with how it turned out. I was going to have the bezel custom crafted with milgrain and engraving, but a local jeweler recommended that it would be less expensive and likely just a nice to go with a stock setting from Stuller. After looking through the catalog and searching for bezels here, I ended up making a match with Skippy''s! I decided not to do milgrain or engraving for now and I think I like it without.

The pearl is larger than I originally wanted, but since I wanted the diamond in a bezel I felt it needed to be larger to maintain proportion. The pendant is a birthday present (my birthday was in May), but it took a long time to find the right pearl and the right jeweler. It''s the perfect fit for this diamond that I''ve had for over 10 years now and have been unable to wear!

js - I wouldn''t hesitate in a moment to create a .25ct bezel - it has a lot more presence than you''d think. Good luck with the decision... I too am VERY indecisive.

skippy - yes we are bezel twins! I actually showed your photo to my jeweler along with the stuller part number.

I''m SOOOO happy that you had such awesome pics of yours here as it really clarified for me that going with a stock mount was the right decision. I was worried that doing so wouldn''t be exactly what I was expecting.

Thanks for letting me share!

K9, I''m so glad you liberated that lovely little OEC and put it in a setting worthy of it''s beauty and age, well done!

The bezel is a nice shape. Great necklace.

That is the most beautiful Tahitian pearl and diamond necklace I have ever seen. What loveliness.
