]I posted over on the Ladies in Waiting forum but figured that I should also post pic here too of my new heirloom ring. My fiance proposed to me 3 weeks ago and I am now proud to say that I will be marrying the most amazing guy in the world while wearing this incredible ring. My E-ring is my great-grandmothers anniversary ring which we believe she had made during the early 1920s. The ring is a platinum, art-deco setting and contains a 1.26ct L SI 1 OEC stone with three smaller side stones on each side (2 OECs and 1 east-west marquis). Total carat weight of ring is 1.66ct. The center stone faces up white and is totally eye clean. My ring size is 4.75. I am in love!!!

congratulations on your engagement!!!!! your ring is spectacular-- I love older rings!!!

congratulations :wavey: on both your engagement and your wonderful ring :)) :)) :))

What a unique and beautiful ring! The center looks so much larger than a 1.26! Congratulations on your engagement! :)

That stone definitely looks larger than a 1.26 and you'd never know it was an L. It's just beautiful!

What a gorgeous ring!!! I love heirloom rings, there is so much history and sentiment attached to them. This is a real beauty, and the stone looks so big and beautiful! congrats and enjoy!

ETA: I love the prongs, would it be possible to have a more close-up pic? :halo:

Congratlulations Ripley! It is a beautiful ring! Have a long and happy marriage!

That is one fabulous ring!! :appl:

Congratulations on your engagement! :appl:

Beautiful and so cool its a family heirloom!

It's beautiful and I love that it already has sentimental value to you, since it was your grandmothers! Congrats on your engagement!

The ring is gorgeous - what a special family piece to have as your e-ring! Congratulations.

What type of wedding band do you guys think would go with this? I haven't started trying on anything but I am assuming that if i want any type of eternity band i will have to go custom. Picture suggestions would be amazing! Thanks!

I have an E-W marquise eternity, but something with marquise and small OECs would be a very nice addition.

Do you have any pictures of your EW marquis eternity band? I would LOVE to see it.

Thx

Sure! Hope its not too many pics.

If you can find someone to make yours with more refined bezels, and with some wonderful OECs interspersed, I think it would carry the theme of the engagement ring well. Even if it were a half eternity, it could still stand on its own should you not wish to wear your e-ring, and would be more sizeable should your fingers change size.
My own eternity is comfortable, but I'm not a fan of the clunky construction, and since its not sizeable, its too large for my finger and must have a band to lock it in. It was sold to me by a very dear person who found it in her vintage hunts and thought it would look good with my ring, and I must admit I agree with her taste.

Congratulations on your engagement and how lucky you are to wear a family heirloom. Your ring is absolutely breathtaking!

Congrats on the engagement and very lovely ring.

Oh WOW! I adore the design, and the stones are gorgeous! Congratulations!

Wedding bands - what about a bezel band of OECs? I love the EW marquise idea too!

Absolutely gorgeous and even better that it is a heirloom piece. Congratulations on your engagement.

Gorgeous!!!!

Congrats. The ring is beautiful...so much history in it. I just love the fishtail prongs.

I spotted a band almost identical to mine in platinum on Ebay. If you do a search for platinum marquise it will come up. The size is 6.5. Mine is 18k in a 7. The seller is away until Sept 21. If you like the band, but would need a larger size we could always meet up and trade. LOL the platinum band is only listed at $75 more than I paid for my 18k!
