Hi Ladies (and gentlemen).

Thanks for the warm welcome onto the Ladies in Waiting list. I'm a fairly new member of pricescope but have been lurking for a few months absorbing every bit of diamond knowledge I could possibly find before helping my boyfriend design my engagement ring. At first I thought that I wanted him to choose something he thought I would like (we did the whole ring shopping thing) and then realized that I am far too particular and way too obsessive with finding internet deals to leave the searching and buying to him alone. Luckily he is pretty awesome so he was perfectly OK with me "helping". We went through Yoni at Eternity Diamonds for a setting and a stone and I know it's been paid for so it's just a matter of waiting for it to be presented to me. The surprise is that I have no idea when it will be shipped or how/when he will propose so I am very much looking forward to that.

Me and my SO have been together for about 3.5 years, we are still pretty young (23 and 25 and I'm the cougar rawr) but decided that we were sick of living apart and wanted to get married next summer so the hunt for the ring began.

I am hoping that I won't be on the LIW list too long... I'm too excited to wait!!!

Anyway, glad to meet you all and look forward to hearing back from you :)
 
Welcome!! You'll find that you are among many like-minded ladies here...definitely feel ya on the "helping" hehe. So exciting that your ring is all set though, just gotta wait to get it!! Hopefully your stay is very short and sweet!!
 
After reading PS and figuring out that other women were designing their own rings I talked to my BF and suggested the same bc I felt less weird about it ahahha

Woot! The ring has been purchased so that's a huge hurdle! Now you get to just sit back and (try to) relax while you wait out your last few days/weeks/months as a girlfriend! Welcome!

Welcome! I like the cougar part, too. :lol: My guy and I are the same age, but I am two months (and tens days....) older, and he teases me constantly about it. lol It's hardly a big deal, but we still find it humorous. I hope your aren't on the list too long!
 
Lovely to hear back from all of you! The ring won't be ready for probably another month since it's being customized, so I'm hoping my stay won't be any longer than 3-4 months. We are kind of doing everything backwards because we may book our venue for the wedding in the next 2 weeks since we have a pretty limited schedule next year for when we can get married (since I will be in school and he will just be starting work after he finishes school). We both decided it would at least take the pressure off him rushing to propose just so we don't lose out on dates we want at the venue we are hoping to book. I guess not everything has to be conventional, right?

Haaha, who's conventional anymore? Welcome to PS, where the females "take over" their engagements by taking over the tiniest of details in regards to the ring! :lol: A lot of us are going "backwards" at this kind of stuff!

I won't keep you guys waiting any longer for ring details.

It is going to be a RB in a cushion shaped halo. The diamond we got is 0.91 carats, GIA triple ex, 1.9 on the HCA and the Idealscope was great (no leakage)

The setting will be similar to this:

The difference is that the entire halo will be sitting slightly lower than the picture shows, and the stems will be fluted instead of straight. Also, the diamond is going to be sitting lower in the halo than the setting shows there, the girdle will be just *slightly* above the halo part for maximum real estate on my finger (I am a size 6.5 but I ordered a 7 since I'm a summer sweller). Oh and the prongs will be eagle claw shaped (single ones) instead of bead shaped.

What do you think?
 
I think that's very pretty, AP! :love: Best of both worlds, an excellent performing optics of the RB, and a halo shape :love:

Did you end up booking your venue? My "date" is a little over a year away, and half the venues I contacted are already booked! :angryfire: I hope you're having better luck than I am!

LOTS of ladies here have booked venues, bought dresses, made arrangements, started planning, etc all before being formally engaged. When you are involved in the aspects of the ring (as many ladies on PS are!) you KNOW it's coming so naturally things seem to start spiraling from there!

So...details!! What is your prospective date?!
 
Prospective date either October 5 or October 12, 2013. A lot of the venues I have contacted are booked as well, with the exception of the one place we REALLY want which has an opening October 11 2013 (a Friday of Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend) but has a hold on it. Me and my BF are going to see it in about a week and a half or so, along with a a few other venues and then if we still really want the #1 place we will put an offer and the people who have the hold will have 48 hours to either also firm up their offer or let us have the place. Fingers crossed that we can get this one!! If not, the hunt continues. We figure our wedding will be about 250 people, and since we aren't interested in a conventional hall we are finding it very difficult to find an interesting event space that will house that amount of people.

The reason we chose that date is because I am going back to school this Sept for Graphic Design and my reading week in 2013 is October 19-27 so we will take our honeymoon then. Getting married one of those days will give us a week or two to settle into our new place (this is the first time we will be living together) and allow me to finish up whatever school work I have prior to my break. This is all so exciting.

As for the RB with the cushion halo, I agree, it is the best of both worlds for sure. Love the sparkle of a RB, love the shape of a cushion, and since the size of cushions are so much smaller than RBs I decided to go with a RB this time and maybe when it is time for an upgrade (after I one day have children... that will be my special reward hahah) I want to get a cushion cut with a cushion halo (I'm a big time halo lover).

welcome to PS and LIW - and soon to be BIW! this is super exciting! and at least we know that proposal is coming by October, but definitely hopefully sooner! in the meantime, i hope you enjoy your stay here :)
