Hello lovely PSers! Just thought I'd drop by to say "hi" to all the "old guard" that remember me!

I've had a rough couple of years (battling breast cancer) but am now getting life back together and concentrating on friends and family. Gemstones have taken a back seat but I thought about you all the other day when I was looking at what jewellery to wear.

Loving seeing all your purchases!

So happy to see your post! Sorry to hear about breast cancer; I was totally unaware of it. Wishing you all the best! And the best to your family, too.

What can we do today to battle breast cancer, as the community? Personally, I try to contribute into genetics. Breast cancer does not run in my family, nor in my husband's family. I downloaded all family's DNA's that we got from genealogy tests (many!) to DNA.land - this site is from Columbia University and they study genetics of breast cancer. (They are asking for a healthy comparison group, too).

Please tell us is there is any way we can support you. Very happy to hear from you.
 
LD you don't know me, I'm not an oldie but... I probably spend more time flicking through old threads then new ones!

I feel like I know you! You, Chrono and TL really seemed like you had a lot of fun here, and I for one would love to see more postings from the old greats!

I'm so sorry for the battles you've been through but I have no doubt they've made you even stronger then you were.

Sorry to hear about your situation but I wish you better health and that you get all the love and support you need to win this battle. It was brave of you to share.

Hi LD, we've not met before, but I remember reading your posts from years ago when I would just read the threads. You contributed so much. What a life changing, paradigm shifting experience your fight must have been. You are brave. I'm glad that you can enjoy the simple pleasures of jewelry again amidst this backdrop of existential crisis. Stay strong and it's a pleasure to 'meet' you!
 
Hi Everybody and thanks for the warm words.

The last year has been a life changing one - and not one that I'd want anybody to go through BUT I'm still here! Thank you all for the offers of genetic help - unfortunately mine wasn't genetic. I had the worst form of breast cancer called Triple Negative (which accounts for only 5-10% of all breast cancers found). It normally affects young ladies (those in their 20s and 30s) and can be genetic. In the past month I've lost 7 friends to this horrible disease so it's made me appreciate life much more and hopefully not take things for granted. In a weird way it's cured me of my "need" to buy gemstones! I'm really happy to look at all your lovely gemstones and will covet the ones I managed to accummulate over the years (more than most people have in a lifetime)!

Anyway, I've enjoyed reading through all the threads today and literally drooling at your purchases. Some beautiful stones! I'm not intending to post much but will definitely pop in and have a peep at your buys!
 
Oh LD, I was wondering what happened to you. I wish you the best of health and I'm so glad to see you back here. I took a hiatus due to major family health issues, but this forum is a pleasure I take in , even when life throws you curve balls. Best of luck to you my friend.
 
LD!!!!! glad that you're back but OH SHIT GIRLFRIEND!?!?! Lotsa dust love and hugs from me to you. :kiss::kiss: Cancers in all forms are heinous. :x My sister has leukemia, and its day by day at this point but each day shes given with us a blessing to the family.
 
Aw, honey, I wish I had known! I, too, had a very aggressive form of breast cancer and a poor prognosis, but I'm here years later! I would've been there every step of the way, as I've walked the walk. Herceptin doesn't work on you since you're Her2-Neu negative?

Welcome back! Hope hubby and fam are being really, really good to you!

Oh Minou I didn't know! I wish I had. No only chemo and a double mastectomy for me. There's nothing I can take as I'm Triple Neg (so neg for Herceptin). Will email you tomorrow my lovely xxx

Oh Arc I had no idea. I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. That's really really crap. I do hope she manages to kick cancer's butt xxx
 
Cancer s*cks...and sorry to hear so many PSers are dealing with health issues in their personal lives.

I wish you continued recovery LD. I am not one of the old "guard" but remember your encouraging posts when I was new here. May we offer the same support here that you have given to so many others like me.

Sending out healing thoughts and best wishes to all those who are in need of healing today! I hope we can all support research to come up with cures for cancer. Things are so much better now, but we have a long way to go. Be well, everyone!

Hi Lovely lady back at ya,

Really am sorry to hear about your illness. Life does take on another type of meaning after such a scare. I hope your beautiful daughter is Ok, and that she has been a support for you.

You have left an imprint of yourself on Pricescope. You are a wonderful teacher and many of us learned a lot from you. I hope your future remains bright, and would like you to visit us here once in a while.

I think I began posting as you were starting to take a little more time off, so not sure if you remember me or not, but I've long admired your posts. (I've taken some space around here lately too but am trying to ease back in slowly, lol). Just wanted to say hi, that I'm glad to see you posting, and SO glad you're feeling better!

More than your amazing, unattainable gems, I remember your fantastic, hilarious sense of humor. (From very old times). And the advises you are willing to give.

I can only imagine how difficult it could be to go through surgery, chemotherapy, plus the emotional part of the ordeal, everything that is surrounding it.

In this community, you are the helper, always providing support and guidance. One only has to look at the pinned thread written by you to see it. And I hope that your altruism and sense of humor are now helping you in your fight.

I most sincerely wish you well, I wish you cure. Please post, even if you are past collecting gems. And if there are any ways this community, having so many women in it, can help you, and the cause, let us know.
 
Great to see you back, I hope that you are O.K and if you need anything or anyone to talk to, vent, etc - most of us (myself included) can be found via LT.
