Hello Everyone,

What love to hear your opinions about this diamond.
I am afraid that the 62.7 depth might be an issue and might cause the diamond to sparkle less. I understand that the weight could have been put into making the diamond look wider and I do agree but the price Is lower than others when I was comparing.

I am also worried that the strong fluorescence might be overwhelming or make it look cloudy or hazy even though the clarity is vvs2. However I also read that the fluorescence might be desirable with a lower color, so maybe it will actually complement the I color of the diamond.

The diamond costs 14.8k.

Please find the GIA of the diamond attached to the thread !!!

Thanks in advance !!

I can tell you without looking that a 35.5 crown angle won't work well with a 41 pavilion angle. A 35-35.5 crown angle needs a 40.6 pavilion angle to be complementary. A 34 crown angle is complementary to a 40.9 pavilion angle.

I'd try to stick to 62.3 or less for the total depth. Deeper stones can result in a loss of spread (diameter).

I put the numbers into the HCA tool, and it came out as a 4, and stones of 2 or less are worth considering. It scored only good on light return, fire, and scintillation, and very good on spread. What we want to see is excellent on light return, fire, and scintillation, and very good on spread. You'll usually get that when the stone scores under 2 overall.

I like fluorescence and strong is usually no problem in a stone with higher clarity. So that wouldn't have been a negative in this particular stone had it been better cut.

Thank you for your input.

The price is alot lower when compared to other 2.19 carats. so for the dimensions I know it will probably look smaller because of the depth but I just wanted to know if it will still sparkle good.

And from what you are saying it still should but there is better. and the fluorescence should not be a problem. 88731A31-69C8-4A13-A85C-58BE0C33BC79.png

Under the table, there will be minimum light return and it will appear dull.

Okay thanks, I already ordered it online, so I guess I will have to wait and see how it looks when it comes. will definatly go get it appraised to see what they think. I really do appreciate your input. I just hope the leakage is minimum if there is any.

It’s a no for me. You can do better.

Also, we go by mm size and not ctw since some cutters (not the branded diamonds we recommend) hide weight in thick girdles and depth.

Can you cancel the order? ASAP? A 3.4 HCA is a hard pass.

Ok. Lost this darn post 2x to cyberspace.

Compare your measurements to this 2.07 CBI

(Just showing a K color 2.07 as a comparison)

Yours is basically the same size face up. You are realistically paying for the size of a well cut 2.08 but you think you are getting the size of a 2.19 which you aren’t.

I agree and completely understand what you are saying but the 2.19 diamond is even cheaper than this 2.07 diamond. which is the reason I got it. I know Its like getting a smaller diamond but my fear was if its not gonna show sparkle or fire not that it will look smaller. I appreciate your input. If I would get a diamond with less depth and more width with the same carat size (basically a better cut diamond) It would be about 2-3k more than what I have paid at least. My main question do you think it would still sparkle good enough or is the cut too bad that it would cause major leakage if light? Thank you so much to take the time to reply and warn me, really do appreciate it!!

If your concern is price, the HCA literally says worth buying if the price is right. You’ve mentioned it’s much cheaper than other options.
If size and price are higher priorities to you than cut, it may be worth buying.
It’s not a dog, it’s just not a diamond PS would recommend based on cut.

Well, the reason I was telling you I was only showing you that particular diamond was for MM comparison with a well cut diamond with no leakage. That diamond is a branded “Crafted by Infinity” Diamond. It’s a name brand.

At this point, since you can’t cancel it (I assume this means it has been shipped), you will have to see it when you get it.

I don’t mean to kill you with questions, but I’m curious why you went with VVS2?

I’ll go look at blue nile and see what I can find for that price. My goal is to beat a 2.19 I vvs2 round brilliant for $14,800 and with a better cut.

Let me see. I’m up for the challenge today.

Why would you waste the time and money getting an appraisal when we are telling you we would never recommend a stone that only gets "good" on light return, fire, and scintillation? I wouldn't settle for less than excellent for my own stone, but certainly you'd at least want very good on your diamond performance??? I'd cancel that one before they ship it, if possible.

And I got 3.8 on the HCA when I just did it. Check the numbers you put in. I cut off the comment, but it said "Your diamond is not a great candidate."

Right, don’t get it appraised. Just use your eyes in bright light, sun light, bathroom light, under a tree canopy on a sunny day, with your back to the TV in a darkened room etc...

Bring the ring to the Home Depot lighting asile... just take it to all lighting environments and see if you can spot the leakage.
