Hello lovely Pricescopers! May I please have your thoughts on this EC?, does it have potential?, can I make it work in a halo?, thank you for your help, your opinion means the world to me!
I’m looking for 4-5cts under 40k.The stone isnt great IMHO. What size/color/clarity do you want? We can try to find alternatives
I’m far from an expert but I can see straight through the middle of that stone - not great light return at the center.
Did a quick search and this one may fit the bill:
Buy Diamonds Online
America’s #1 source of unbiased advice for diamond engagement rings. Rare Carat compares over a million diamonds at trusted retailers to save you money.www.rarecarat.com
Carat size is smaller but it’s the same length, just a bit narrower (which I personally prefer aesthetically, but you may prefer otherwise)
I’d see if you can get an ASET for the stone if you like it.
Thank you so much. I’ll reach out. Finding a diamond is harder than I thought. I was hoping I could make this one work and be done with it.
I love the L/W ratio, and was fine with the slight imperfections. Will the price change your opinion on it?, how much would this cost for you to consider it “not overpaying”?The good news is that there is some wiggle room for taste. Try search for “light yellow emerald cut diamond in yellow gold bezel setting.“ IMHO that is a gorgeous combination and a K would look great so long as that is the look you are going for. Also there are varying opinions on windows, contrast, and light return. In a fancy cut you kind of have to see them yourself to see what suits your taste. Hard in a pandemic but plenty of sellers got good return policies. I have a 0.5 ct emerald cut that is 4mm x 6mm which is probably way way “too shallow” but I love it.
The one thing about bucking the advice for traditional specs on fancy cuts is that even if you genuinely like an imperfect diamond you should not pay perfect diamond prices. So if you like windows for example, go find an awesome emerald cut diamond with a window but don’t overpay.

That is a fabulous question for anyone who has touched a 5 carat emerald cut diamond!
Thank you so much for your honest opinion. I don’t know either. It will be nice to read from someone who knows. I currently have a 3ct h vvs1. This is definitely new territory for me.Not trying to be coy — I legit don’t know what a 5 carat emerald cut K color VS1 diamond without a window should cost so don’t know what the imperfections-discount should be. Someone else might. Happy diamond hunting.
