My SO has asked me to compile some information on the setting that I like, so that when the time does come, he can take care of things on his own, without having to ask me. I am very excited about this!

However, I can''t decide between two settings. I realize they are both very different, but if you could give me some input I would appreciate it.

So, which one would stop you in your tracks?

Can you post pics?

What do you do for a living? Will you be working or active with your hands a lot - or honestly, even a moderate amount?

I think the jbeg is a much more practical design - the tacori sits so high, you would have trouble getting that head under gloves and it would be too easy to knock it around, I'd think.

I agree. The tacori is very high. I think I would constantly be hitting it against stuff or snagging it on clothes. I think the top view is beautiful, just not diggin'' the side.

I''m a teacher. Take that as you will... I''m definitely not as active as others.

Hmm. Chalkdust and pave, OTOH, may not be the best mix.

If you go with the jbeg I'd definitely ask them to add holes in the shank for cleaning - the stones will get filthier faster, but you can at least get in with a toothbrush to clean them..

Haha, no chalk dust Yssie, dry erase markers. Do you still think I should ask them to add holes?

Even though my E-ring is a Tacori and I am now always biased....

I voted for the Sophia. I just really like that the Sophia has a little more of *umph* to it then the Tacori does.

Soo..I''d definitely go for the Sophia.

For me, definitely.

The issue with no-holes is that it is much harder for dirt to get under the stones - but it eventually will, and then it's difficult and possibly impossible to get it out even with professional cleaning. With holes dirt from your skin can get in and coat the pavilion much faster, but you can get in too and scrub! You'll want to be able to do that if you start seeing flecks of red dry erase marker fuzz on your ring

Wow, interesting - most people voted for the Sophia. How exciting for you this deliberation must be!

It is quite surprising Dinamit! When I researched the Tacori, there were a lot of poistive responses... But maybe that was just people being nice...

My only concern with the Sophia is the thickness of the band. JbEG said the smallest they could make the band would be 1.8mm. I would really like something around 1.5mm. I guess I will have to deal.

So next question, August Vintage Round or August Vintage Cushion if I go with the Sophia?

1.8mm is very narrow, so I wouldn''t worry about that. My setting is about that width, and I wouldn''t want to go any smaller.

I think an August Vintage Round or Cushion would both look fabulous in that setting. That just depends on your personal preference for shape.

ditto, 1.8 mm is very very small.

I love Tacori rings, but between the 2... I like the sophia one. I love the pave!!! :)

Do you know how the cushions face up compared to the rounds?
I love the cushions but I havn''t seen some one get some of the rounds yet and I think they look lovely also.

I have seen many videos of both, but haven''t seen either one in person. SO and I have talked about taking a trip to New York within the next year and a half. When we do, I will insist that we go by GOG, so that we can see them.

I''m surprised there wasnt many votes for tacori.. they seem to be the winner around here!

PS--If you dont want the Sophia send her on over to me!

I also vote for you to take a look at august vintage cushions... they are beautiful

yeah.. but... I don''t like that Tacori. I find it too plain even though it has an unique profile. The Sophia is a lot prettier!!!

The Sophia has a really breathtaking head. It just grabs your attention!

Thanks everyone for your help so far! The Tacori was the first ring my SO and I saw when we went ring shopping... so I guess there is something to be said about the first ring you try on.

I have been definitely leaning towards the Sophie lately, and you ladies reassured me!

I think I might sneak away today and go try on some elongated cushions at my local jewelry store. I love the way the AVCs look in the GOG videos, but I am worried about how they will look on my hand. I have quite short fingers... Some of my kiddos at school this past year had bigger hands than I did!

My finger is a size 5.5, but I normally wear between a 6 and 6.5 because I hate the ring fitting tightly, I like to twirl my rings all the time, and I want to avoid that "muffin top" affect on my finger.

Any suggestions as to stone shape?

This maybe a little bit late since you said you're leaning towards the Sophia. My setting is the Tacori and I just want to let you know that I completely LOVE IT! I work in a lab and have to wear gloves all the time and yeah it is a high setting but I have no problems working while wearing it. So I'm super biased and would vote for the Tacori :cheeky:

Go the AVC - I love them and have one on hold! I've not seen it in person either, I'm buying off the video and pics as I'm in Australia.
The bright beautiful flashes - yum.
That Sophia that you have posted has an AVC in it and it is stunning!
