I am going to buy a Canadia Diamond but would like to see some different prices, but the problem is there are not very many sold around me. I am looking for a 1ct, could someone point me in the right direction?

Are you in Canada/US/UK?

Is there something in particular that is attracting you to only Canadia diamonds?

I am in the US and yes there are many things that I like about the Canadia diamond. I like the fact they were made right here in North America and how nice they actually look compared to other diamonds at the store. My gf also loved the hearts and arrows pattern and they way it makes it look. They also comes with the serial number in the diamond which we love because the fact of knowing that it's your diamond and your not getting screwed if you take it somewhere is a plus. Also the jeweler where I am getting it from has a very very good payment plan (yes I have the money but the plan is to good to turn down). The jeweler is having a massive invintatiom only sale next weekend and I would like to see if the prices are really that great.

I'm Canadian and initially wished for a diamond from Canada. After a little further investigation, I changed my mind because of several bits of information I found.

If you're interested:

http://diamonds.blogs.com/diamonds_update/diamond_mining/

"The economic troubles were intensified by the Ontario government increasing the value tax on diamond production from 5 percent to 13 percent, resulting in an 8 percent increased burden on mining operating margins."

Basically, I can summarize it by telling you the Canadian government charges additional taxes and prevents certain corporate write-offs of operations that ultimately raise the cost to mine, export, cut or manufacture diamonds. All that cost gets passed on to the consumer.

-These are available from many, many vendors. I too chose to go with that cut of Round Diamonds. My fiance LOVES it!

-This is also regularly available. Not just from Canadian diamonds

I know it's not too expensive to get this done in the event your diamond doesn't have it. Someone here might be able to tell you the cost.

There are tools here under :
https://www.pricescope.com/diamond-price-stats
And
https://www.pricescope.com/tools/what-is-diamond-calc

If you have a browser on your phone use this to compare while at your local Jewelers Invitation only show:
https://www.pricescope.com/diamond-search-results/

Under the comments section of AGS (not sure about GIA) reports, it will tell you if it is laser inscribed.

Check out this link to search for Hearts and Arrows, 1.0-1.1 carat / Color E-G / Clarity VS1-SI1. It should give you a little bit of a reference of where you are on prices from multiple vendors:

Hopefully, this helps you be a little better armed during your search. Good luck. Keep us posted on how you make out.

How nice they looked in the store has nothing to do with being mined or cut in Canada.

I just got a quote and I want to know if this is a decent price. This is his employee "sale" price that only occurs once a year I guess. The price is $5100 and is a Canadia .92 H SI2 Ideal cut Hearts and Arrows. Am I totally getting ripped off and should I look elsewhere? I looked on some different sites but they do not have that exact diamond to compare to.

For $5100 you can get about the same size but up the clarity...

I wouldnt say you are getting totally ripped off. It is a B&M store which usually run you more. Is the
SI2 stone eye-clean. That would be my main concern as long as the numbers on the stone are
correct. Have you run the numbers through the HCA tool to see how it scores?
