Hi all,

Recently found this forum through a friend, and know nothing about stones.

My childhood friend referred me to his jeweler (he also used for his engagement). He has given me some options and I want to make sure the pricing is fair/good. Can you please let me know your thoughts?

For context, I am looking for the following natural stone:
Radiant cut diamond
~3 carats+
1.35 - 1.45 ratio
I color or better
SI1 or better

First option (the one I like the most), is this 3.02 carat. Supposedly it’s a very clean SI1. It’s $35k

Second option is this 3.06 SI1, but it has more visible characteristics. That’s $26k

3rd option: seems like a not as clean SI1 but bigger. $32.5k

Thank you in advance!

I offer you my early congratulations @watchguy2481 !

Unfortunately, fancy cuts (anything that is not round) can not be evaluated by just the numbers (papers). We need up close
videos and pictures. Aset images are a big plus with radiants.

Some of our folks can look stones up by GIA report number. Hopefully, they can find them and provide links to them.

I did find this one...

We'll wait a little bit and see if someone else can find the other two. You do understand that these are considered virtual stones
and other vendors can call the stones in (your jeweler doesnt own them).

Much appreciated! Will stay tuned. So is there any sort of solid pricing guidance that can be given online, given your comments?

Also, another quote:

3.22 carat radiant
10.98 x 7.43
I color
SI1
$38.6k

@ watchguy2481, look at the wire price from Whiteflash vs. what you have been quoted! You were wise to double check these prices as that jeweler doesn’t seem to be doing you any favors. Good luck with your search - exciting times for you!!

But isn’t the inclusions in the center what’s driving this piece cheaper?

She found the same stone your jeweler was asking 35k for at WF for 29k. So it's the same exact stone. Your jeweler doesn't own the stone. He or she is overcharging

Oh yes, good catch! Don’t even notice that it was the exact same

Yes, so he is just suggesting stones that he can all in. Many others can do the same and will often do it at less cost - so just double check before agreeing to buy from him.

If I was in the market for a radiant, I'd call or email David with Diamonds by Lauren in the diamond district in NYC. He understands what makes a nice looking radiant far better than most. He has a good eye for fancy shapes.

He can help you find a colorless radiant.

I agree, and his customer service is excellent.
