Help choose setting..please.

I ordered a 1.57 mrb from Whiteflash for an upgrade to my 1.06 mrb. My old setting is a 6 prong cathedral Stuller setting which I liked very much. They don't make it for this size stone. Not sure what to do now. I wanted it to sit flush, but most don't except maybe the legato, which is 4 prong. I attached a picture of my old setting. Any suggestions? @mrs-b has a beautiful solitaire from DK. Should I do something custom like that? Could use some guidance! Thank you!

Are you able to ask WF to do a 6 prong modification? I can't see why that wouldn't be possible. And I have to agree - your Stuller setting was lovely! Do you still have it? Could it be modified by a good jeweler to fit a larger center stone?

DKJ could certainly make you a solitaire like mine. I loved that ring (since melted down) and it was hugely comfortable to wear. It was my favorite solitaire and very elegant. It also sat flush.

Worth at least a phone call to get a price. If you tell DKJ you want a solitaire like Mrs-B's that used to hold her 3.63ct* diamond, they'll know what you mean.

* It might have been 3.61ct. My mind is a total blank!

Fun fact: many (but not all) of Stuller’s rings can be customized for an extra fee. Worth exploring. Your jeweller would have to enquire.

Hi @mrs-b! Thank you for the compliment on the setting and the advice! You have such wonderful taste...that means a lot Whiteflash is going to check with Stuller about making it in the bigger size. I will probably know that by tomorrow. As for making another of their settings into 6 prong, I probably could, I think a PSer made the legato into one. I am not sure about the cost. I have to check. It might be more cost effective to go with DK. I will check that out.

My friend customized a design and it was an extra like $400. So it wasn’t cheap. But maybe it’s worth it to you if they are able to do it. Good luck!

The three stone ring I just got a few weeks ago was a setting that I had modified by Stuller. I’m not sure about the cost since I sourced the diamonds and setting through my local jeweler and she gave me a significant break in the cost of the setting. But I can share a picture of the modified CADs vs stock setting. I only changed the mm sizes for the center and sides, nothing else.

Thank you! I am in love with it I got it a few weeks ago and have been wearing everyday since! I’ll link a thread with pictures of the finished ring.

Modifying a stock setting was super easy for us, they sent CADs next day and the setting was delivered in two weeks. The timeline may be different getting close to the holiday season though.
