Hello Pricescopers,

I am currently in the process of looking for an E-ring for my girl and I am having a hard time figuring out which stone to pick between a couple that I think are very similar. Even though I''ve educated myself by reading from this site, I still consider myself a novice when it comes to diamonds so I was hoping I could get some advice from the pros.

Here''s a link from Whiteflash with the round diamonds that I am considering:

http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Compare_Diamonds.aspx?idnos=1466952,1466940,1843972,1848224#

I''ve looked a the ideal-scope images, cut advisor results but I can spot anything that will help me narrow it down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

BTW, I like their Fine Line setting as it resembles the Cartier 1895 which my gf loves.

All are very good, just up to your budget and preference.

Welcome to Pricescope,

All are lovely diamonds but saying that isn't really helping you choose one! What I would do if you don't have a preference and all are well within budget, is to contact WF and ask for Bob or one of the other experts to get the diamonds out and talk you through the nuances of each. In this way they will be able to tell you which diamond has the most ' flair' and see which subtleties of each one might appeal to you the most.

Thanks for replying Stone-Cold and Lorelei.

Do you think it is worth it take one or two of these stones to an independent appraiser? I know that these are all probably great ACA stones, so I am not sure if it is better to take it to an appraiser once I decide on one and it is set.

Any thoughts?

I am glad to be of help to you!

It is up to your comfort level, WF are a very highly regarded vendor and will include an appraisal you can use for insurance purposes with your purchase, but if you would like an impartial professional opinion to help you choose, then you could certainly speak to WF to inquire about having the diamonds of your choice to be sent to a local appraiser for inspection and viewing. Alternatively you could have the diamond set then have an appraiser examine the diamond and the ring during the return window.

Here is the appraisers listing - https://www.pricescope.com/appr_list.aspx

Thanks Lorelei I appreciate your help.

After further narrowing it down to just 1 of the stones, another one popped up that catched my attention. It is a 1.715 F VS2 ACA and it is about 2300 bucks more. Here is the link for the comparison:

http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Compare_Diamonds.aspx?idnos=1843972,1843973#

FYI: The table % from the 1.715 diamond is incorrect in the Whiteflash website and the correct number is 56.8% per AGS report.

My questions is: Would their be a much noticeable difference in size between the 1.572 and the 1.715 diamond? Considering the carat difference and the fact that the 1.715 is F instead of G but VS2 instead of VS1, do you think is worth going for it if I can make the stretch for that price difference? This one is catching my attention because there is another 1.518 F VS2 in whiteflash that is $660 dollars more than the 1.715 F VS2 so it makes the 1.715 much more attractive, unless the 1.518 F VS2 is overpriced.

Hope that makes sense to everyone.

Thanks

1.7 to 1.5 is noticeable in a direct comparison.

If you have the extra money, sure, I''d go for it.

It is more of a .143 carat difference and not .2, that''s why I didn''t know if the difference would be that much noticeable.

thanks for the reply

side by side, you can probably notice the difference in size.

But realistically, it is only a 0.2mm in diameter difference between the 2. Look at a ruler, can you tell a 0.2mm difference?
