I am looking for round pair of emerald or ruby below 3k. I want to get them soon so a domestic source would be best. Any suggestions on good ones in the market now?

Thanks!!!

How big? What color preferences do you have? How clear? How picky are you on cut?

Are you ok a more pink, purple or orangey modifier? Post a pic of ruby you like and it'll help us gauge color.

All these questions will help us locate a stone that will make you happiest!

Emeralds are generally not round, so finding a pair will not be easy. You made no mention of treatment, quality nor size but with your budget, they would need to be treated.

Re: Help earrings either ruby

I guess I am looking at rubies then. In terms of size, I have jackets that are meant to fit 1 carat round diamond earrings. I would like these to fit inside (so I would guess above or near 6 mm).

In terms of color, I do not see a good visual resource that shows the different modifiers, any suggestions.

In terms of more technical cut and treatments, I am interested in your help. I want to find a pair of stones that you (the awesome experts), would be interested in at my price point. I greatly appreciate the help.

In way of back story. Chrono, you helped me pick these sapphire studs which I bought jackets for (I really liked them). I decided I should add another element to the gift (our wedding day gift) so I wanted to get rubies. I will move fairly quick on these, so any prompt help is VERY VERY appreciated. I included a photo.

I love your earrings! What size are the sapphires? By domestic source do you mean mined in the USA or from a US seller? Are you even in the US? I didn't catch your location. I know it was just mentioned that there are emeralds mined in the US and of course there are Montana sapphires. But how often do those come in red? If your just talking US seller. How about trying gemfix for rubies. They seem to have pairs. Maybe AJSgems? You could also just email various cutters and see what they have. Watch out for undesirable treatments. Also consider tsavorites if you can't find round emeralds.

1 ct diamonds measure approximately 6.5 mm, so do you mean 6.5 mm or 6 mm?
Secondly, please confirm if you meant a US-based seller due to your time constraint or a US mined gem only. I presume the former.
$3K for a pair of heated rubies of 6 mm is probably going to be difficult as they cost far more than that unless you are willing to accept modifiers or some clarity issues.

With the exception of the pair below, the rest are either too small, shows more pink or might have visible inclusions up close. The inclusions will be less noticeable once worn at the ears though.

I like the 5.2mm pair on that page. Very bright.

There are some tsavorites in halo jackets in this thread. I love the green color with the diamonds. The pearls look great too.

IN,
Excellent idea of using tsavorites in place of emeralds. I would contact Jaimeen of Prima Gems to have him source you a pair. He does not post his nicest stones online so I would either email or call him. Request a medium to medium light tsavorite with NO yellow undertones. I think they might darken up a little in the jackets if you went with medium darks.

Sorry. I mean the seller is in the US (for expediency).

Isn't there a pair of emerald studs on Diamond Bistro/Preloved PS jewels? They've been there for a while (not mine, I'm not advertising).

Just checked that they are 4.5 mm each, too small for the jackets. I saw that Embassy Emerald has matched pairs but I cannot get into their website tonight.

Figures it wouldn't be that easy! :)

Has anyone tried www.hedgestone.ca for emeralds? I think they are Canada based.... I haven't purchased from them but have exchanged a few emails for prices etc. They have what seems to be a reasonably large selection of emeralds (they have sapphires & diamonds too).

I just did a quick search for matching sets of round emeralds under 7mm and they had 5 or 6 pairs, and one group of 3. Most are probably too small for your requirements, the 2nd largest was pair was 0.67ct (total weight) 4.5mm across, so perhaps too small. There is a set of 3 which are a tiny bit larger by weight, I'm not sure what this would translate into by dimensions tho, again it might just be a tad small.

OP: please come back and tell us how you have fared so far - have you found anything?
