Whilst we are on undergarments, can anyone suggest what I can do.

My dress has a proper tudor corset - the very square ones with mega boning (basically every inch is boned so it''s pretty solid) so the girls get somewhat squashed against it, and supposedly do that nice buxom, just about to fall out if you breath too hard kind of thing. You know, you''ve seen the films!

Well, that''s what it''s supposed to do. I don''t have the biggest bust in the world, I''m a B - which should be fine, except I have a broad ribcage (36") which means they don''t really do the cleavage thing. Sorry if this is all TMI, but I have been trying to think of a solution for sometime.

Has anyone have any ideas of how to get a suitably ''heaving bosom'' (god this sounds ridiculous!). Problem being that corset is supertight, definitely couldn''t have a bra under it - and cut off point is barely above nipple level - oh, and I refuse to have implants for the day!

Do you think having half cups sewn in so I get a bit of extra lift would work?
Here''s a pic of the look I want! There was a scene in the series where she had very little on - and her chest was pretty much the same size as mine, so they have managed it somehow!

I would see if they could add some sort of padded cups sewn in...not just for the heaving bosom, but to give the girls some comfort! Ouch, does that look painful!

Is there room for chicken cutlets in there, to give the girls some oomph?

I''m sure someone will have better advice than I, but I thought I''d throw my .2 in anyway...

FI and I like to attend RenFaire and on our first trip I bought a dress/corset combo so I could participate in the dressing up. The woman who I bought my corset from basically told me that you lace the corset up and tighten it, then lean forward at the waist, reach in and basically hand adjust while you are bent over. Pushing and pulling and redirecting flesh until you get the look you want. Then you can retighten/tie it to keep the support and make final adjustments after stand up right again. I believe she made the corsets, so I guess she knows what she is talking about.

I was always able to get the overflowing "oops, I might fall out" look this way, but I am also fairly well endowed uptop.

Would those chicken cutlet type things help? (Sorry, I have no idea what their correct name is

The corset is actually super comfortable to wear!

I think the chicken fillet things might be a good idea. I''ve never tried those before! Are they easy to get hold of?

They''d need something to hold them in - I can just imagine one starting to slip down the front halfway down the aisle

so I''ll see if she can put some cups in as well!

I can''t think of the name of it, but there is 2 sided tape stars use to keep some of their more risque clothing on. You could tape just below the bra line to force them to be more forward.
A friend of mine who is a little smaller in the bust loves these: http://www.nubra.com/. You could gine them a try.

the way we managed it for theatre stuff was mostly by taping (yes, taping -- athletic tape if we had it, usually just the good ol' duct tape) everything into place from below. that way it won't pop up and won't show. you just have to play around with it -- but it allows you to get them where you want them and make 'em stay there. not the most romantic thing for a wedding night, though. I was a bit smaller then and it worked for me. I would try something adhered to you, like the nubra or some other similar device. then you're less likely to have nipples escaping than if you attach the padding to the dress itself.

ETA: I just picked up some packs of that 2-sided tape. They were on sale at Loehmanns (along with the spanx -- score!) in packs that had a variety of shapes. It adheres clothing, but i don't think it will work with a stiff bodice -- those things kindof move on their own. If you want to tape the girls into place, I still think you'll have to anchor the tape on your own self, as opposed to on the dress.

Several things...

mjso is absolutely correct. My degree is in costume design, and any time we did a period show we had the ladies do the bend over, reach in, and pull up and adjust thing. It works very well, especially if you are well laced in. I used to have callouses on my pinkies from lacing up corsets! It also works well in a standard strapless bra.

As enbcfsobe said, taping works well, too. Besides athletic tape, you can use a really wide medical tape. Duct tape works, too...but if you are going somewhere on your honeymoon that you want to wear a bikini or any type of bathing suit, I wouldn''t recommend it. It can be very unkind to your skin.

We also used to make a small wedge shaped padded piece to sort of rest your bust on inside the corset. They are fairly easy to make, and we usually covered it in muslin and thread tacked it in place. That way your bust has something to rest on to keep it up higher. And since it is tacked in, you don''t have to worry about it falling out. The wedge shape is to keep it minimal in profile so that while your corset is tight, it isn''t killing you.

By the way, have we seen a picture of said dress?

Where did you find it? I wouldn''t be surprised to hear you had it made...I haven''t seen anything like this at all as I have been dress shopping.
