Hello all! This is my first post. Really happy to join the community! I was hoping you all may be able to help me identify a stone I recently acquired. I am posting some pictures.

It is much appreciated!

Thank you all!2018-04-30 13.46.24.jpg 2018-04-30 13.48.40.jpg 2018-04-30 13.54.43.jpg

Is it metallic and completely opaque? It looks almost like hematite.

Bronze, opaque sapphire?

My guesses are: some kind of rainbow or reflective obsidian, a very dark brown moonstone, or a kind of metallic sapphire. Welcome!

Could it be what is known as a “gold sheen sapphire”?

I saw a "gold sheen sapphire" at a gem show and it was more honey colored...other than that I don't have any good guesses.

It has a orange brown under tone and a blue haze on top depending which way you turn it. But not opaque.

Thank you!

Thank you very much for your guesses! I have been trying to find someone in California or somewhere that can help me to identify it but with no luck. I am literally willing to send one to get identified. Hopefully I can find someone here that knows a place!

Looking at it again, I guess some kind of feldspar, which includes labradorite, moonstone, and other varieties. It could be a dark labradorite. Does it have tiny specks in it?
You could figure out it’s specific gravity. That will give you a better sense without having to get it tested. You can look up how on YouTube or online.

Yes it does. I found more in my stash that is lighter in color. I will attach more pictures. 20180501_083915.jpg 20180501_084323.jpg

Id say a feldspar, most probably labradorite!
