Help. Is this diamond worthy of purchasing? My jeweler is adamant is a good quality diamond. A google search says the proportions are not ideal.

Most jewelers will tell you that their merchandise is good quality. The proportions are not ideal. There is a .07 variance in the diameter, the table is 58, the depth is a bit deeper than we would prefer and the pavilion angle is over 41. Do you have any pictures or images of the diamond?

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, Sherry Schwartze!
I'm 100% in agreement with MissGotRocks - this diamond is poorly proportioned and will suffer from noticably reduced light return and optical performance, despite what the jeweler is telling you. This exact diamond was listed at an online seller for just under $20K, but I wouldn't recommend it since there is quite a lot of sacrificing of diamond beauty, in my opinion.

No, this isn't a good diamond. The jeweler just wants you to buy it so Is saying what they think they need to say

I think it is wise that you passed on this diamond. I wonder why your jeweler picked this stone for you since it was listed online and he/she could choose one with better proportions from virtual inventory. It would make me wonder if they fully understand diamond cut quality.

How about this one? The proportions look good to me based on everything I’ve readIMG_8142.pngIMG_2433.png

What about the one below?

We need to see a picture of the actual stone. WIthout that, it isn't possible for us to quess what it would look like. Also, I disagree with the table above in terms of "super ideal". Just because a stone falls in those percentages/angles there's no guarantee that it's actually "super ideal". You have to see how the angles work together. GIA rounds numbers so it isn't precise. Also, 62.4 is where most folks use as a "cut off" for depth.

I tried to upload the 8 second video of the diamond but can’t seem to get it uploaded. I will try again.

If a vendor or seller can’t back up their super ideal cut diamond with pictures and images, dollars to donuts it is not super ideal cut. People can write content all day long, but the proof is in the images and photos. If you are not familiar with the Whiteflash.com website, take a look at it and the way they identify a super ideal cut diamond. Lots of great info there!

Unfortunately we still need a picture and video. I am very doubtful that this is a true super ideal diamond, or else the vendor would have the stone in house and would show you a million pics and videos.

I didn't know if I should start a new thread or not but I have the same questions and concerns as this OP. Except I already bought but can return. Please help me understand if this is a proportional diamond with good light return.
