Hey!

In the midst of getting ready to get an Engagement ring. My local jeweler wants $3,100 for a 2.07 emerald cut lab diamond, E color, VS1. I feel like that’s very over priced considering what I’ve seen online, just not sure what to look for exactly.

Was looking to see if anyone is willing to help source the same kind of lab diamond. Willing to go up to 3 carat if the price is right.

The diamond is going to be set on a solitaire band, hidden halo with the cathedral look. 14k gold. Should the 4 prongs be different for strength?

@DejaWiz i heard you’re the person I should chat with! if you have any input, suggestions, let me know

Did the $3100 include the setting or was it just for the stone?

Emerald cuts are tough. They’re very hard to evaluate well. It’s easier if you show us some you like. ECs have varying length-width ratios, and everyone has their own preference.

Alex Park on IG has lots of great stones. You could dm them, but don’t expect concierge service. Lots of ppl have been happy with Alex’s choices.

If you want concierge service, reach out to @Rhino Jonathan at Distinctive Gem. @Rockdiamond, aren’t you with Diamonds By Lauren?

For a great emerald cut, you will want some hand holding.

What do you mean by your prong question? Did you mean different styles?

Good luck!

Thank you I’ll check it out on IG!

For the prongs, the jeweler said the prongs should not be gold due to strength? Unless I misunderstood, she was saying to go with a stronger metal on the prongs

Yup, that’s us!!

Um….no. We consider platinum generally as the superior metal. Having said that - properly done 14 or 18kt prongs are fine.

Good to know! I was actually just looking through your website.

Forgive me if you already know this, but if you consult directly with an online jeweler, and they have access to stones not listed on their website. So definitely call/email anyone who catches your eye.

Truly had no idea, all of this is fairly new to me! Have never purchased a diamond before so I really want to make sure my girls gonna love the ring as a whole!

I’ve been rummaging through a few websites so far

David and Jonathan are great. Will guide you well.

And Alex Park has great staff, but like I said, they’re not concierge service. Given their price point and how they run their site, it works and makes lots of customers happy.

Sweet! Do you happen to know if any of those jewlers do virtual appointments so I can lay eyes on the diamond myself?

Pretty sure Alex Park will send a video. Don’t know about the others. Videos are common, though. Even Brian Gavin sent a video. Check them out, too. They have a higher price point, but their signature emerald cuts are gorgeous!
