it is possible to randomly recieve a Tiffany''s catalog in the mail!

I was just going through our mail and there is a Tiffany''s envelope addressed, not to me, but to my BF! Weird thing is, there was another one that was addressed to another address and clearly put in the wrong box. It was also addressed to a man, and I had to open it..it was just a normal catalog ( I hope that guy isn''t really upset when his catalog doesn''t reach him, but I just couldn''t NOT see what it was!). Does Tiffany''s get names and addresses (homeowners, for example) from other companies and send out unsolicited mail? Or could there be a reason that they have my BF''s name and address?! I don''t really want a ring from Tiffany''s, but we have gone there togather and he knows I love the Legacy (though I worry about the shallowness of that cushion). He''s NEVER given them any info about himself....so far as I know. I know I am probably flipping out for no reason -- so tell me that tons of random people got a Tiffany''s catalog today so I can stop!

Also, if there is no logical reason for this, how do I pretend that I never saw it? BF is out of town until Friday, if it''s on the counter, he''ll know I must have brought it in.

I dont know, what level cataloge was it?

? How do you tell ? I would have to guess low end...there aren''t any e-rings in it (or atleast in the one I opened that was addressed to someone else). I don''t think I dare to open the one addressed to my BF, I may just put it in the mailbox on Friday and pretend I never checked the mail that day. I''m going out of town on Fri. anyway, so then he can do whatever he likes with it .

Are there any Tiff's catalogs that are low end?!?!?! Most of them don't have erings in them anyway. Usually the typical catalogs are seasonal...is it the Fall 2005 or Winter/Holiday 2005 edition? Sometimes they put out fancy-pants booklets that only have like, one item per page, but those are pretty rare and nothing in them is under like, $5000. But the typical catalogs are seasonal and are booklets about half the size of a normal piece of paper.

And not to freak you out or anything, but the only times I have gotten the Tiff''s catalog are (A) if I specifically requested it on their website, or (B) after purchasing something with their ''interest free 6-month-payment-plan credit card.

Now let your mind go crazy! Sorry to do it to you!

I meant "low end for Tiffany''s" LOL...No fancy pants here!

It seems like one of the seasonal booklets...I have gotten them in the past, but I always requested them. Do they mass mail them?

Okay, I checked, it is the Fall Selections 2005. Not unusual by any means, except being addressed to my BF.

To be honest, that''s what I was thinking...I don''t think he would actually order a catalog sent to the house, because I always get home first and get the mail. But if he didn''t know they were going to send something....

OOOH! This really is weird!

Oh Fatafelice, what to say? Agony. With your boyfriend''s name on it? I really don''t see how that can mean anything other then what I think it means... try not to drive yourself crazed!

Okay, I really am trying to figure out a logical explanation...

1. There was another envelope addressed to another man in our town, but it was accidentally put in our box. Our town is pretty small and that would be a big coincidence if another man around here had recently purchased something from Tiffany and his catalog happened to end up in our box. Makes more sense that were a lot of catalogs being delivered today (mass mailing) and they got all mixed up.

2. His brother bought an e-ring for his fiance last Nov/Dec. from there. Maybe he gave them my BF''s name and address b/c he knew we were getting close?

3. One of my impatient, smart @$$ family members or friends thought it would be funny to order it for him.

What do you think?

All of the above are logical alternative explanations for him receiving the catalog. Whether or not any of them are true.....who knows! But they all would be valid alternative reasons, yes. Until you know for sure, you are going to go batty, I know it.

Who wouldn''t?!?!?!

I honestly dont know I get T&Co stuff all the time...some times you get catalogs of just one line, or invitations to little events.
I also get some of their stuff at school but I am not sure why. I know I have not bought anything there and had it sent here. Perhaps he bought you something, maybe an e-ring, maybe something else. If he wanted to tease you a little something from Tiffanys like a necklace or bracelet would be a nice present and not an e-ring..I hope this is not like what happened on that other thread...

Thanks, Guys!!! If nothing else, it''s so helpful to have this board to release some of the nervous/anxious/freaking-out feelings on!

I''ve never received a tiffany catalog

So, likely they got your bf ''s name from somewhere, either from him or someone ese. I would just show the catalog to him, look closely at his face and say, hmmmm why did they send you this do you think???

Well hopefully it's a hint...but I get crap from them all the time

Hmmm...I''m not sure if you should be rational (sorry, no help, I know). My fiance began receiving Tiffany''s catalogues after he purchased a neclace for me...

Well, from the "don't over react quite yet" point of view, I receive Tiffany's catalogs all the time and neither I nor my husband have ever bought from them. So maybe it was just random??

I''m going to play into your wild thoughts....why on earth would a jewelry catalog from Tiffany''s be addressed to your boyfriend unless he requested it? If I was one of those annoying telemarketer/catalog people and was sending random catalogs, I would definitely address it to the woman....My fingers are crossed for you!

Thanks so much, everyone! It has been really good for me to the read responses from both sides of this thing. At least I know that my crazy thoughts aren''t completely unfounded.

I don''t really have my hopes up though, since it seems highly unlikely that he would have gone that route...and I don''t want to end up disapointed. So for now, I guess its just a waiting game...what else is new?!
