Hi everyone,

I decided to buy myself a little 30th birthday present and have settled on working with David Klass to repli-kate the Duchess of Cambridge's sapphire and diamond earrings (link here) but in a lever-back style. Since I want to be able to wear these every day (or at least every day once COVID goes away) I wanted the stones to be much smaller than on Kate's earrings and settled on 6x4mm for the centre sapphires. On PS's recommendation I reached out to Yvonne Raley, who was just so sweet and nice to work with, and she sent over two pairs of sapphires - both Ceylon, heated and eye clean. The lighter Cornflower blue pair is $600 and the darker Royal blue pair is $800.

They arrived today and I think both are really pretty, I just can't choose between them!

I like how the $600 pair (left) have a little more fire and dance in the light but the colour isn't quite to my taste. I also think they have extinction than the other pair. The pair on the right have just the perfect colour to me but feel a little velvetier, which I'm not sure I love? I also wonder if the colours will get darker once set, which might then bring the pair on the left to the colour range I like (is that how it works??) Given that the price difference is small, I'm not too fussed about the price difference. Any thoughts or guidance would be very much appreciated!!

Here are some more pictures ($600 on left):

Thanks in advance!

My gut says right pair is nicer, better colour saturation and closer to theme you are looking for although you are correct they may darken slightly once set.

I'd pick whichever has less extinction. Other than that, go with the color you prefer!

Thanks for your thoughts! To me the darker ones have less extinction and the I prefer the colour - I might give Amy at David Klass a ring and ask how much she thinks they'll darken in the setting.
