Hello everyone,
I have been so happy with my 2.05 AVC stone, set in the Angel setting...usually paired with a plain wedding band.
I love this simple set but the issue I now have is that I am finding it a bit too "simple" style-wise.
I do have an AVC 5 stone band but prefer to wear that alone on my right hand most of the time...
So........long story short, I would love to "dress up" my 2.05 AVC.... I was considering adding pavé or French cuts..... HELP!!!!
Don't get me wrong... I do love and appreciate the simple elegance of the Angel setting by GOG...that is what I wanted to start with. I do want to bling it up though... and I find that paired with my avc 5 stone, it just isn't the look that is knocking my socks off....
So many options....
I have considered a halo style...but I can't bring myself to halo this gorgeous 2.05....seems it would kind of take away from the beauty of it if that makes any sense.
Anyways, I thought this may be a good place to start.... GOG is ready to dress this baby up anytime for me, I just have to decide and give the go ahead!
Here are a couple pics from my last posts...

Last photo is of the AVC stone paired with my 5 stone AVC band.... Love them both but for some reason not together.... Too similar to what I wore for 10 years prior maybe...? The 5 stone always ends up on my right hand to which I would love to add a ruby stackable band to it....

Are you willing to get a different blingy band that isn't reminiscent of your prior set vs. resetting your diamond? I love your ring so so much, but I understand the need for bling. That way you could dress it up or down to your hearts content!

I will have to say that my goal is to eventually have an AVC, and I do think a delicate halo is very complimentary to a cushion diamond. The little diamonds sparkle while the big facets in the AVC throw off light and color in a different way. I'd have GOG send the diamond to Steven Kirsch for you as I think he is a pave master. Of course others have done the french cut shank such as brightice, and that is a beautiful option as well.

Hi motownmama
Oh yes I am more than willing to reset the diamond... and have a completely different band..

Thank you diamondseeker...

I know that when (even if it takes me years) I get an AVC I would slap a halo around that thing. I would never put a cushion around my RB, but AVC, two seconds, or as long as it takes me to email Victor Canera. I am not a particular halo lover around everything. I just love a halo around a cushion center stone, and an AVC would be even better because the light reflection off the cross pattern is so different from the bling of the melee stones that a well done halo would really complement the chunky rainbows coming off an AVC.

Have lots of fun deciding!! Post lots of pics when you're done with the reset!

And, btw, I would wear the five stone as a right hand ring. I think that beauty deserves it's own unshared real estate. ;)

Hmmmm... I LOVE your AVC!! (I am a sucker for those) and I also love it with your 5-stone! (Maybe because it reminds me of my own?? LOL) And I do love my small, delicate halo. But I know a halo is not for everyone. Although it IS gorgeous on an AVC! :naughty:

Mine is a 1.87ct with a 1mm halo (half pointers), plus a partial split-shank. And I wear it with my 6-stone wedding band. (I actually now have a yg spacer between the 2 rings, but it is not shown it these pictures.)

But if you don't want a halo... you may want to consider something like this...

Good luck!! You can't go wrong with an AVC! Your ring is already stunning as-is!

Thank you each and everyone of you!! I appreciate your opinions and ideas very much!! I am still undecided! Going back and forth on a few options........ I have decided not to pavé my 2.05. I want to stay with a simple setting and add a little bling with a wedding band...perhaps an eternity band of small AVCs, or perhaps a diamond and sapphire combo.... As it stands now, my Angel setting has the stone set low enough that when I wear it alone it is beautiful but when worn with my 5 stone, my 2.05 is too low, there is a big gap between the er and wedding band and maybe the stones on my 5 stone are too big to wear alongside my er...
Lots of settings out there. Lots of options. I can't make up my mind... :? :?

All the rings are so beautiful!! But, I'm always a sucker for an AVC in a delicate halo! They really accentuate the big chunky facets! :cheeky:

I'm going to be the dissenter and say I love this as a solitaire!!! and think you should maybe get some fun stackers to go with it?

A dear friend of mine expressed her opinion as well and suggested maybe a set up like Kate Beckinsale's wedding set  That set did catch my eye and the fact that my friend has mentionned it - well my interest has been peaked even more now :twirl:
I have found a couple threads now by some lucky ladies wearing similar sets...
This type of style may be a good option.
Still tempted (maybe) by French cuts or maybe just sticking with the simple solitaire look.
I do appreciate everyone's feedback since all I seem to be doing is going back and forth on this.
I like many types of settings...there are so many great options!
My goal was to choose my stone and have it set in a simple solitaire setting to begin with. I knew I would have it reset eventually...if only I could decide... lol

I just wanted to add that I am somewhat in the same situation with my AVR in a solitaire setting. I agree that it is hard to wear a 5 stone band with an ering due to the height. But Iove a wedding band with tiny stones because it adds sparkle while allowing the band to be low in height. I wear the Tiffany legacy band with mine but I'd also love to have a French cut band. I am just a little undecided because I know my stone would be beautiful in an antique style setting but I am just afraid to commit to one!
So I do empathize with your situation!

Ahhh diamondseeker.... it never ends does it!!  I think it is easy to get carried away and sometimes simplicity is the best choice.. if not, some settings swallow up the beauty of a solitaire stone... some don't.
I was told that when I see the setting of my dreams, that it will hit me like a brick. Well, I have tried on many styles of settings in the last few weeks... and I have spent many an hour on PS and other sites searching for settings... and no brick yet.
I have realized too that it all depends on the type of hand the ring will be worn on.. Many settings I like do not look all that good on my hand.... I don't have a perfect hand with long slim fingers... (I wish..!) Some days I prefer simple. Other days, more bling...
I do like the Kate Beckinsale type wedding set and the French cuts are a close second.... But having to commit without knowing if it will suit me or if I will tire of it... Choosing the stone was so much easier..!
Keep posting your ideas PS friends! As you can see I need the help. Ha! ha!

My conflict is that I know for sure I love the simple solitaire that can be worn with various bands, and I love one particular Van Craeynest setting. That setting is $4k. There is no possible way I would spend that much on a setting unless I was SURE I would keep it forever. It wouldn't be a big deal to switch settings from time to time if they cost a lot less!!! So for me, it is hard to narrow it down to one since I like two different looks!

Have you tried yours on with many styles of wedding bands? I highly recommend Tiffany's as they carry many classic styles of diamond bands.

How about another AVC band but with smaller .12 ct stones?

this... feels almost good enough to be evil

How about a bezel set halo?

Hello Pricescope friends! Time to re-awaken this thread of mine… and give you all an update. And once again, I come calling for your opinions :wavey:

So here goes: After sitting on this for months, considering all possible options and driving GOG and my good friend Cachette CRAZY (thank you Jonathan and Sarah and Cachette) I have decided that what will work best for me is a SIMPLE SOLITAIRE SETTING (to be paired with an AVC band, perhaps with smaller stones than the ones on my 5 stone… either eternity, or 7 - 10 stone maybe). I am starting from scratch since the Angel setting that my stone is set in now does not have the style of basket that I love. I like the Angel setting, but I don't LOVE it..It may sound a bit foolish to switch from a simple solitaire to a simple solitaire.. BUT like I said. I want to LOVE my setting not just LIKE it...

So PSers, any opinions on a simple solitaire setting? I do have it narrowed down to a few ideas but any additional input and pics and ideas would be great. And fun :naughty:

Here are some of my "wants" with this new setting:

- must sit flush with wedding band (or very close)
- double claw
- cathedral
- a basket style that will let the light shine though my stone as much as possible
- a sturdy setting
- no pavé or side stones… just a simple platinum solitaire setting.
- in a style best suited for my cushion … Here is the link again:
