I was planning on going to IDJ to get new appraisals for jewels and started to look at the diamonds I have. I think that I would enjoy them more if I made some of them into a 5 stone ring. But, the are different sizes and colors. I have the following
.5 color I (bezel necklace) AGS cert from BG
.61 color K (x2 earrings) AGS cert from IDJ
.35 color I (bezel necklace) AGS cert from BG
.23 color I (bezel bracelet) AGS cert from BG

.30 H-I color diamonds (x2) earrings from GOG - not the best quality

What do you suggest I create? I know I would like the largest stones possible, WG, shared profile low setting. Is it worth it to trade in any of the above or what stones would you use for this ring. I don't mind buying a few to complete the project.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Are you doing graduated or not?

All your BG I’s might be fun if you wanted to just use what you had. I’m doing a 5 stone as well but opted to have mine only be one color grade apart... (so mine will be K & L), for me personally I think staying close in color is a good idea but TBF all of my diamonds are in the slightly tinted range. However makingthegrade did a graduated 5 stone. I believe there was more variation in her stones and it looked fabulous! I can’t remember what exactly they were, but I remember she mentioned it.

Might be a good idea to find out what proportions you like best. I believe that it was Mrs B who said ideally for her the 2nd largest stones are a little more than half the biggest stone. And then the two smallest stones are about half the middle. She’s got great taste so I used her rule of thumb for mine.

Thank you so much for sharing! This information was so beneficial. I will look at those threads! I feel like this is a great starting point before I go there without knowing somewhat of a plan.
