Hi! I need your help! I am having a custom bezel band made. It’s white gold with 10 point diamonds. I’m just having a reallly hard time deciding between 3/4 or full eternity (full would be 4 more diamonds)

Full pro- diamonds all aroind

3/4 pro- what if I need to size it down the road??
- I’m a busy stay at home mom and don’t want to damage stones? Help!

How much has your ring size changed over the years?

Well- I was like 4.75, then I had 4 kids and now I’m closer to a 6.25. Still have some last baby weight to lose

If you're still fluctuating, I wouldn't get a full eternity. Alternatively, you could get a slightly larger size with sizing beads.

It's a tough choice. I find that when my bands are not full eternity, they do move on my finger and then the part with no stones show, so I'm always adjusting them. You probably won't go from a 6.25 back down to a 4.75. But could down to a smaller size if you expect to lose any weight. So if you want to buy it now and not wait to see where your finger size will end up, I'd go as small as you can now for a full eternity, and if it gets loose, add the sizing beads later. But that's just what I would do since I don't like the spinning that shows no stones.

My advice… buy for your current size and enjoy it. Weight loss is so unpredictable and you don’t need the added stress and pressure.

I would get the full eternity band in the 6.25 and add on sizing beads as your finger size changes. If your fingers return to a 4.75, you can wear your wedding set on your ring finger and eternity band on your index or right hand. My jewelry said he could save some metal off on the inside of my eternity bands if I needed some room.

I have an eternity band in a size 5 and 6 with sizing beads in them. My ring finger is a 4.5. I can wear the size 5 on my left and right ring fingers and the size 6 on my middle and index finger on both hands... I am really happy I got rings in difference sizes. I can mix and match or stack my rings depending on how I am feeling or what I have planned for the day.

I do understand the reasoning for 3/4 eternity and the ability to size up or down if needed. I have committed to full eternity bands.

The width of the eternity band is something to consider how it will fit over time (and over knuckles). I went up a 1/4 size for my marquise eternity band, which is almost 4MM. Depending on the weather (or what I ate the day before), some days it’s a little loose and others it fits just right.

Another thing to consider is if you want the ability to stack eternity bands. In my case, having that 1/4 size up I am able to stack them comfortably.

Good info- mine will be almost 4mm also

Are sizing beads uncomfortable?

3/4 . I had a eternity band that I didn't wear for YEARS because it was too small.

3/4. It's more practical.

I have what they call sizing "cushions" in a few rings. They are more like half ovals and not round balls. They don't bother me at all. They probably wouldn't work for a full eternity, but for a 3/4 they could go in the metal part without stones.

That is my biggest fear.. not being able to wear it!

Are sizing beads uncomfortable?

I hadn’t worn rings on my index finger in years and it took about a week to get used to the ring and sizing beads. I don't feel them anymore.

I went with sizing balls and asked the jeweler to put them on the metal between the holes. The sizing balls anchor onto the fleshy part of my finger and the ring doesn’t spin. I wanted to wear the bottom of the ring in the same spot.

I could have asked the jeweler to put on a small sizing bar where the back of the stones are covered. But the ring would spin a bit more and I didn’t want to cover up the ring markings. I saw a ring where the ring markings were on the sizing bar. I have the sizing bar on another ring and it’s extremely comfortable.

My rings were ready made and the beads were added on after.

I would try on men's bands in 4mm to get a feel for size. I need to go up 1/4 to get it over my knuckle.

Thank you, @chere, for posting pictures of ring with sizing balls and sizing bar. I think I will feel more comfortable with a sizing bar. It will also fit better on 3/4 eternity.
@rgp, I personally will choose 3/4 eternity. Barely a month after having our ring and their sizes are big already! We will look for a jeweler to install sizing bar for ours.

For me, I shall never consider full eternity as I realise my finger sizes keep increasing as I age though no obvious weight gain.
I would also think of the descendants who eventually inherit my rings.

I would never consider a full eternity ring as I am hard on my hands especially when I am in good spirit after a drink or two and in good company!
